PBR Canada: 2025 Rankings Breakdown (AB/BC/ON)
August 29, 2023
With the summer season just about complete, our updated rankings from the 2024 - 2026 classes continue to roll out as we take a look at the 2025 class this week. Our staff across the country has really locked in this 2025 class over the past year as we began to make decisions on the Canadian Future Games squad heading down to Georgia.
We got an up close look at a ton of these names at LakePoint for the marquee event, but beyond that we've recently seen plenty more top 2025s with the West Coast Games in Las Vegas, as well as the Canada Cup with select 2025s representing these provinces.
This class has really jumped into the spotlight this summer as they became eligible to talk to college programs on August 1st and we already have seven commitments from the class across the country. With the extra looks this 2025 class has had over the past summer, we've had several risers and breakthrough performers and we begin to break it all down below.

WHAT'S NEW AT THE TOP
Timothy Piasentin SS / 3B / Dr. Charles Best, AB / 2025
Rankings StateRank: 1 / POS: 1
Piasentin really jumped onto the scene this summer and impressed at the Future Games in late July. Big, athletic frame at shortstop at 6-foot-3, 190-pounds with a short left-handed stroke and power potential. Recently made the move to the Okotoks Dawgs Academy which has slid him from BC's rankings to Alberta's where he now finds himself at the No. 1 spot.
|
Shane Brinham LHP / OF / Handsworth, BC / 2025
Rankings StateRank: 2 / POS: 1
Brinham was one of the arms that drew the most interest at the Future Games last month and has propelled himself to the No. 2 spot in BC's rankings. 6-foot-2, 160-pound left-hander with projection on the mound and a high-spin arsenal starting with his fastball at 85-87mph (2410 avg. spin). Shouldn't be long before there's a commitment beside his name.
|
Adyn Schell 3B / RHP / Martingrove CI , ON / 2025Schell is another name who's really jumped onto the scene over the past year and made a name for himself on a national level. Just moved back to the 2025 class following his commitment to Missouri State and finds himself at No. 6. Has attended several major events this summer and shown well each time with the Future Games, Canada Cup and 18U National Championships where he won a gold medal at the ladder two events. Big left-handed hitter with feel to hit and has upside on the mound, as well.
|
THE RISERS
Evan Dugdale OF / RHP / Meadow Ridge, BC / 2025
Rankings StateRank: 5 / POS: 1
Dugdale has put together a strong summer season and comes with tools across the board. 6-foot-2, 175-pound two-way player who's ran a 6.81 60-yard, has been up to 90mph from the outfield with low-to-mid 90s exit velocities. Has also flashed upside as a right-hander pitcher and seen himself bumped up into the top five in BC's 2025 class.
|
Aiden Taggart RHP / Grimsby, ON / 2025
Rankings StateRank: 12 / POS: 5
Taggart is one of the arms in Ontario's 2025 class who's make the biggest leaps and developments over the summer. We got a look at the 6-foot-3, 200-pound right-hander in the winter at the Future Games Trials and flashed good three-pitch mix, although he was still gaining feel for his arsenal. Has really honed it in since then and been able to attack the strike zone, making him a weapon for Team Ontario at the Canada Cup as the teams closer. Plenty to like here with size and stuff as he's elevated himself to the No. 12 spot in Ontario's class.
|
Liam Kirsh C / 3B / Tanenbaum Chat, ON / 2025
Rankings StateRank: 19 / POS: 3
Kirsh has been one of our staff favourites over the past 8 months as he's really made a name for himself, showing well every time we've had eyes on him. Strong, proportionate frame at 5-foot-11, 195-pounds with feel to hit and gap-to-gap approach. Strong catch/throw skills with average arm strength that allows him to control the run-game well. One of the biggest risers in Ontario's 2025 class.
|
SUMMER SHOWCASE STANDOUTS
Alexandre Laurence C / 2B / Vauxhall, AB / 2025
Rankings StateRank: 6 / POS: 2
Our staff has seen plenty of Laurence this summer starting with the Best of the West tournament in May, the Calgary Future Games Trials in June and finally the West Coast Games earlier this month. Has really jumped out with his ability to impact a game with the right-handed bat and comes with defensive versatility as he can competently play several different positions around the diamond. Has flashed some juice in the bat this summer, as well, highlighted by a HR at the West Coast Games on UNLV's field.
|
Jamie Mercer SS / 2B / Holy Trinity Catholic, ON / 2025
Rankings StateRank: 17 / POS: 5
We've seen Mercer at multiple events this summer with the New York State Games in June and the Eastern Canada ProCase earlier this month. Mercer's a standout defender up the middle every time he takes the field with athletic movements, soft hands and arm strength from multiple angles. Another strong summer from Mercer earned him an invite to the ProCase where he fit in with some of the top prospects in the provincce.
|
Lukas Le Gras C / OF / Lambrick Park, BC / 2025
Rankings StateRank: 3 / POS: 1
Le Gras attended the Island Future Games Trials in Nanaimo back in June and his strong performance earned himself an invite to the Future Games in July. He impressed once again at the Future Games which his catch/throw skills and showed flashes with the bat, earning another invite to a marquee event with the Western Canada ProCase.

TOP UNCOMMITTED
Austin Collins RHP / RHP / Foothills Composite, AB / 2025
Rankings StateRank: 2 / POS: 1
Collins is the top-ranked arm in Alberta's 2025 class and impressed at the Future Games with a large number of schools in the seats for his outing on Day One. Athletic mover with composure on the mound and a fastball that sat in the upper-80s. Changeup is the go-to secondary offering with late fade and ability to miss bats. One of the top uncommitted 2025 arms in the country.
|
Joey Marino SS / 2B / Fleetwood Park Secondary , BC / 2025
Rankings StateRank: 1 / POS: 1
Marino is one of the top uncommitted positional prospects in the country with a solid game on both sides of the ball. Was one of the top bats at a loaded Canada Cup tournament with a gaudy stat-line as he went 6-for-14 (.429) with two doubles and ten walks (.654 OBP). Continues to defend at a high-level up the middle but the right-handed bat has seemed to really elevate through the end of the summer.
|
Josiah Romeo RHP / 3B / Mayfield Secondary School, ON / 20252023 has been the Josiah Romeo coming out party as he earned his a spot on the Junior National Team for the first time and impressed at several major events on a national level with the Best of the West Tournament, the Future Games, the Canada Cup and the 18U National Championship. Big, athletic right-hander at 6-foot-3, 190-pounds with a live arm that sits upper-80s to low-90s. One of the top overall arms in the country and has drawn significant college interest recently.
