The 2024/2025 RHP and 2023 Future Gamer was a standout at the Calgary Summer ID. There’s athleticism in his 5-foot-11, 165-pound frame, working out of a ¾ slot with a long arm. He works up in the zone with the fastball at 86-88 mph and pairs it well with his two off-speed pitches. The curveball has a 1/7 shape to it that can create chase below the zone. The changeup, arguably Collins’ best pitch, has late depth and added arm side run while still tunneling well off the fastball. Out of the same slot, it has a vertical movement difference of over 8 inches, and 9.6 inches of arm-side run. It too profiles as an effective swing & miss offering. As one of the top uncommitted arms available in Alberta, Collins will be one to keep an eye on.

Collins put together an impressive 3 innings during game 1 of the Future Games. It starts with a clean, loose arm out of a low ¾ slot and athleticism to go with it. The fastball sat 86-88 mph with some serious arm side run and spun off some tight curveballs at 71-74 mph that have a 1/7 shape to them. However, his most effective offering was his changeup. At 78-79 mph, the velocity difference creates timing issues for hitters as it's thrown with the same intensity as his fastball. It too has arm side run and dies at the plate creating lots of swing & miss when down in the zone. Was able to locate all 3 offerings for strikes and nothing is straight making it difficult on hitters to barrel him up.

Uncommitted 2025 RHP Austin Collins may have been the biggest standout among the underclassmen at the event. Athletic look with a high-waisted frame at 5-foot-11, 160-pounds with plenty of strength to come. Live arm with a fastball that sat 87-87 T89.8 with armside run and late life. There’s feel for a tight breaking ball at 74-75 and flashed a good changeup at 74-75 with heavy horizontal break and fade. Our first look at Collins and it was an impressive one as he looks to be one of the better 2025 arms in the entire country.
