Don’t let Laurence’s 5-foot-6 frame fool you, he has one of the best hit tools in the 2025 class on the West Coast. No matter where he plays, he hits. Laurence stood out at Best of the West with his plate coverage and discipline, working several full-count walks and doing damage when balls were left over the plate. He also had an impressive showing at the West Coast Games in Vegas last August, driving a 1st inning HR deep over the LF wall against Nevada. He has bat speed and present strength, allowing him to reach the upper 90s in exit velocity. Laurence is a catcher by trade, with a 1.91 POP time and 77 mph catcher velocity, but he is a very effective infielder, playing mostly 2nd and 3rd for Vauxhall throughout 2023. As one of the top uncommitted 2025s in the country, Laurence is looking to take the next step in 2024.

The Vauxhall Academy product was one of the top showcased 2025’s at the West Coast event. He was a spark plug to Team Canada in Vegas and contributed on both sides of the ball. A catcher by trade, Laurance showcased his defense versatility playing 3B/2B as well. With his quick feet and transfers behind the plate Laurence saw his pop time go as low as 1.91. During the West Coast Games workout, he launched balls beyond the fence going as far as 366ft. Laurence also added a statement swing in the first inning vs Nevada, crushing a solo HR to left field. Don’t let his 5-foot-6 frame fool you, this kid is a spark plug defensively and offensively.

Laurence performed well at our Future Game Trials both at the dish and in the field. Laurence flashed a good combination of both speed and power giving us our top 60 time at 6.90 and our top exit velocity at 97 mph. He also impressed behind the dish posting a 1.94 pop time and showed off his good footwork and smooth actions in the infield to go along with his 84 mph infield velocity. Laurence will be a 2025 college coaches will want to keep their eyes on for the next few years.

Laurence was one of the more impactful bats for Vauxhall in the championship game against Okotoks, finding his way on base all 3 at-bats and scoring a couple runs in the process. Worked a full-count multiple times and had impressive plate coverage to force those extended at-bats. In the field, Laurence played a solid 2nd base all week for the Jets, showing some clean footwork and quick hands. After a standout performance at the Lethbridge Spring Open ID in late April, he was on our Radar and did not disappoint at Best of the West.
