Updated Tennessee 2020 Players Rankings (September)

Jack O'Dowd SS / 3B / Lipscomb Academy, TN / 2020

6-foot, 185-pound left-handed hitting shortstop w/ smooth stroke and elite barrel control. An athletic, projectable prospect w/ advanced approach and good offensive upside. Committed to Vanderbilt.    

Grayson Hitt OF / LHP / Houston , TN / 2020

Hitt enters the rankings after a strong summer with Arkansas Rawlings Prospects. Left-handed pitcher was 86-90 w/ sharp 73-75 curveball at PBR NPI at Lakepoint.  Committed to Alabama in July. 

Hollis Fanning RHP / Tullahoma, TN / 2020

Hard to miss Hollis Fanning on the mound at 6-foot-7, 200-pounds.  The very projectable right hander was 82-87 this spring supplemented w/ a 69-73 mph breaking ball and 79-80 mph changeup. Committed to Tennessee in July.  

Landon Lewis RHP / OF / McCallie , TN / 2020

The top uncommitted newcomer to the 2020 rankings.  Similar to Fanning, Lewis is towering on the mound at 6-foot-6, 195-pounds.  Showcased fastball at 82-86 w/ nice 12/6 breaking ball at 67-69.  This long lever right hander is one to follow heading into the 2020 season.   

Grif Hughes LHP / Karns, TN / 2020

Hughes bust onto the scene at TBCA showcase at Lipscomb University this summer. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound southpaw worked 81-83, topping at 85, complimented by 73-75 mph breaking ball and 76-78 mph changeup.  Hughes struck out two in two innings of work. A projectable left hander to follow in 2020.  

Ben Zyburt RHP / Farragut, TN / 2020

A 6-foot-4 big bodied right hander out of power-house Farragut HS showed out at Unsigned Senior Games in August.  Showcasing a fastball at 84-86 and curveball at 73-75 w/ plenty left in the tank. Committed to Roane State CC at the end of August. 

Guy Lipscomb OF / Franklin, TN / 2020

6-foot-2, 175-pound outfielder had a great showing at North MS Prospect Identification Showcase in late June (60: 6.77| OF Velo: 88 | Exit Velo: 86).  His tools plus a simple, smooth left-handed swing lead to him committing to Belmont in early August.  

Caleb Jones LHP / 1B / Cheatham County , TN / 2020

Jones, another Unsigned Senior Games standout, is a 5-foot-11, 160-pound southpaw, who worked at 81-84 w/ 72-74 mph curveball.  Clean, loose arm w/ great extension to the plate.  An uncommitted lefty to follow heading into the spring.  

Yosuany Herrera OF / John Overton, TN / 2020

Sneaking into the Top 100 after a strong summer, Yosuany Herrera is a physical corner outfielder w/ good pop from the right side.  Had good week at TBCA showcase going 2 for 4 with 3 quality at bats. Committed to Cleveland State CC in late August.  

Eriq Swan SS / RHP / Oakland , TN / 2020

 Made the largest jump in the class moving from 162 to 21^stoverall (+141). The very projectable, two-way prospect shined on the mound sitting 89-92 w/ heavy sink and late life at Top Prospect Games in June.  Committed to MTSU in June.  

Jacob Balsley SS / 2B / Bearden, TN / 2020

The speedy shortstop posted the top 60 time on day 2 of Top Prospect Games in June.  Showcased short, compact swing and good pop for size (88 Exit Velo). Rose from 93 to 40^thoverall (+53).  Committed to San Diego State in July.  

Adam Birkholz LHP / Farragut, TN / 2020

The 5-foot-11 southpaw pitched crucial innings in relief at the TSSAA state tournament to help Farragut secure the AAA state title.  The lefty was 81-83 while mixing sweeping slurve at 73-74 causing him to rise from 155 to 53^rdin the 2020 class (+102).  Committed to ETSU in late June.  

Kameron Johnson OF / OF / Heritage, TN / 2020

Potentially the fastest player in the Tennessee class, showcased at Top Prospect Games with a 6.41 60 Time.  Showed good arm from OF (84 OF Velo) and developing offensive game (88 Exit Velo). The CF prospect busted into the Top 100, rising from 105 to the 55^thspot (+50).  Committed to MTSU in early July.   

Carter Edge C / 3B / McCallie, TN / 2020

A TN/KY Border Battle participant last Fall showed solid all-around game.  Had strong summer offensively, showing good production and gap-to-gap power. Rose from 148 to 63 (+85).  Committed to MTSU in early July.  

Sam Kirkpatrick SS / 2B / Montgomery Bell Academy, TN / 2020

An exciting player to follow this summer circuit at Top Prospect Games and TBCA showcase.  Kirkpatrick is a field general w/ versatility to play all-three infield positions. Advanced rangy defender w/ strong arm and developing offensive game.  Rose from 118 to 64^th(+54). Committed to Holy Cross in mid-August.   

Carter Vrabel SS / RHP / Father Ryan, TN / 2020

Another middle Tennessee field general to close out the committed risers. Continued to be an advanced defender up the middle w/ good movement patterns.  Strong showing for TBCA Team Tennessee in Oklahoma.  Rose from 142 to 78 (+64).  Committed to Wabash Valley CC in early September.   

Alec Beaman SS / RHP / Centennial, TN / 2020

The two-way utility man helped lead Gametime Elite to the championship round of the Kentucky Limited Series in July.  Showed advanced approach at the plate w/ knack for offensive production in many ways.  Was 81-84 on the mound while playing both middle infield positions.  The uncommitted Beaman rose from 132 to 77 (+55) in the 2020 rankings.   

Caleb Hawkins C / SS / Stewarts Creek, TN / 2020

A toolbox backstop who can impact the game on both sides of the ball.  Had strong outing at Top Prospect Games in June (60: 6.92 | C Velo: 83 | Exit Velo: 86) and productive TBCA showcase (2 for 5, 2 R, 2 RBIs).  Rose from 89 to 60 (+29).  The #2 uncommitted catcher in the TN 2020 class.  

Blake Cooper OF / Heritage, TN / 2020

Made a significant jump on the mound this summer at PBR National in July. Working at 85-88 w/ 71-73 mph power slurve.  Rose from 117 to 95 (+22).  A left-handed pitcher who may continue to rise as Spring season rolls around.  

Dane Sykes RHP / Columbia Central, TN / 2020

Worked 2 scoreless innings and striking out 4 at TBCA showcase in June. Fastball worked at 82-85 complimented w/ sharp 12/6 curveball at 71-73.  Also showed changeup at 74-75. Prospect to follow w/ increased workload in 2020.  

Braden Caldwell SS / 2B / Bearden, TN / 2020

Caldwell only got better as the summer progressed.  After good Top Prospect Games showing in June, Caldwell showed out at Unsigned Senior Games in August.  The two-way prospect logged a sub-7 60 time and was 77-80 on the bump w/ knee buckling slurve.  Prospect to follow as he continues to develop. 

Cobey Allison RHP / OF / Davidson Academy, TN / 2020

A quick arm right hander, who had good outing at Unsigned Senior Games in August. Worked 83-85 w/ loose active arm. Curveball at 66-68 and changeup at 73-75.  Intriguing senior prospect if he makes one more jump this spring.   

Landon Slemp SS / 2B / Science Hill, TN / 2020

 Two-way prospect had solid TBCA showcase (1-4, 1 BB, 1 R | 1 IP, 2 K).  Was 80-83 on the mound w/ 68-70 mph breaking ball.  One to follow in 2020.  

Gabe Corley C / 1B / Goodpasture Christian, TN / 2020

Thick-wristed offensive backstop with good showings at Top Prospect Games and Unsigned Senior Games. Very physical offensively w/ good pop and moves well for size.   

Jacob Garner RHP / Lawrence County, TN / 2020

Very Projectable right hander at 6-foot-5, 195-pound. Simple, repeatable motion. 

Fastball: 78-82 Curveball: 61-64 Changeup: 74-75 

Reece Milam RHP / Nolensvlle, TN / 2020

Right hander showed good pitchability and command w/ 4-pitch mix at Top Prospect Games in June. 

Fastball: 79-81 Curveball: 67-69 Slider: 73-78 Changeup: 72-74 

Jack Douglas C / Bartlett, TN / 2020

Undersized gritty backstop showed good blocking and offensive production from left side (2 for 2, 2B, 1B, BB, 2 RBIs) at TBCA showcase in June.   

Dain Hardwick RHP / 3B / South Gibson County , TN / 2020

The right-hander threw two scoreless innings, while striking out 3 at TBCA showcase in June. Filled up zone and leaned on 77-80 mph FB and 63-67 mph breaking ball.
