A member of the Canadian Junior National Team, Hammill hit .286/.444/.571 with a home run on most recent trip. The 2021 prospect is the 1st ranked shortstop and 3rd overall. 5-foot-10, 175-pound infielder, medium frame, strong, athletic build. Can run, has been up to 6.64 running the 60-yard dash, speed translates to the infield, and the outfield in minimal viewing. Covers ground at shortstop, able to adjust footing with direction towards first-base, the glove actions continue to improve. Displays similar tools both from the left side and the right side of the plate, bat speed and explosiveness are evident both ways, better rhythm and timing from the right-side allows for tools to be better maximized. His athleticism will enable adjustments and advancements to continue to be made, and by the time his grad year comes, he’ll be one of the top prospects in the country.
7/25/18
Exciting young switch hitter with athleticism and actions on the infield while speed and the bat are a big part of his game. Ran a 6.64 sixty at the Future Games with a short, quick swing that can go the other way from both sides of the plate, Hammill shows understanding of the strike zone with hand eye and will drive mistakes for extra bases. Not a lot of swing and miss and gets out the box and down the line well. Defensively, there's arm strength from both shortstop and the outfield, body control and smooth actions speaks to athleticism, versatile defender who makes plays and was 87 mph across the diamond in Indy. One of the top 2021 players in his class
