Tournament 12 Day 1 Recap
ATLANTIC VS PRAIRIES
Atlantic - 1
Prairies - 0
Rogers Centre: Kicking off the 2018 Tournament 12 were Team Atlantic take on the Prairies in the first matchup of the day. It was a low scoring affair, with Atlantic taking care of the offence in a 1-0 win. 2019 nova Scotia native and member of the Dawgs Academy Micah McDowell supplied the offense with his speed as he had a base hit to lead-off the game, and followed that with a walk and proceeded to steal 4 bases on the day. The Oregon State commit is a very toolsy player and is currently ranked 3rd in Alberta’s 2019 class.

Okotok Dawgs right-hander Jordan Lussier got the nod for Team Prairies on the mound and was very efficient in his 4 innings of work, striking out 9 while walking two and giving up only two hits.
The pre-set 1-1 counts are definitely in favour of the pitcher, and the first game was a pitchers duel from the get go.
QUEBEC VS FUTURES
Quebec - 7
Futures - 4
Rogers Centre: Our second matchup of the day saw Team Quebec battle it out against the youngsters and first timers for the most part, the Futures Team.
Quebec sent 2019 left-hander Antoine Jean to the hill and he walked away the winner, only making one mistake that cost him, a fastball that was left up for a two-run triple. Other than that, his curveball was a big part in his success, keeping the opposition off-balance.

Offensively, Jason Begin and Simon Menier led the offence with each driving in a pair of runs.
For the Futures, Loreto Siniscalchi worked the 7th inning and struck out the side. His overhand curveball gave hitters trouble and was able to use that as an out pitch.
The big knock early on for Futures was a triple by 2021 Elijha Hammill which plated two and brough the Futures within one early on but 9 walks in total by the Futures pitching staff was just to many on the day and a veteran ballclub in Quebec capitalized on the mistakes.

The Great Lake Canadians are well represented on Ont. Black and they led the offense today as Alabama commit Owen Diodati hit the first homerun of the tournament, lacing a shot into the right-field bullpen while Eric Martin and Brian Zapp each had big hits that drove in runs.
Uncommitted 2019 Noah Lalonde making his T12 debut, proceeds to strike out the side. @OntarioYankees product.

Not much doing on the offensive side for Alberta with LSU Eunice commit Ayden Makarus driving in the only run of the day with a line drive right back up the middle, other than that they were held at bay by Ontario Blacks arms.
On the mound, Jack Cust jumped out as he struck out 6 in his two innings of work and displayed athleticism in his delivery while featuring a 3-pitch arsenal and good action on his pitches.
