15u Nationals Recap
With the 15u Nationals complete after a thrilling, extra inning walk off by Ontario at Kinsmen Stadium, it’s time for us to recap some of the highlights and look at a few of the standouts from the week.
We dive in today with our host team the Oshawa Legionaires as well our two finalists in Saskatchewan and the your National Champions, the Brampton Royals (Ontario Representatives)

Brodie Guenther
Report: Guenther, a 6-foot, lean shortstop out of Saskatchewan, was a standout during the Ray Carter Cup. He demonstrated lightness on his feet at short and the ability to position himself correctly on different ground balls. The combination of sound footwork, athleticism, and poise, with enough arm strength for the position, set a positive standard of things to come as he continues to develop. At the plate, it’s a push type swing with an up the middle, opposite field focus. His current bat path leads to more ground balls than line drives, but with slight adjustments, he will become more of an extra-base threat offensively. The speed plays and is a huge factor in his game. On the Sunday night final, Guenther got the ball. The right-hander went 6.2 innings striking out 11 and giving up only three hits. He changes his arm slot purposely, at times as high as 3/4 and as low as submarine, but for the most part, it’s a straight sidearm delivery. His repertoire includes a sinking fastball, a changeup, and a slider. He throws each pitch off of one another causing constant off-balance swings. He will backdoor his slider for strikes vs. lefties and bury it to righties for swings and misses. He can contribute off the rubber, but currently, his best spot is at shortstop.
