83.0
Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
Physical build standing 6-foot-1, 190-pounds. Above average arm strength. Average actions. Good bat speed. Hard contact. Power with carry from 3B, shows loose hands with the glove. In the box the ball jumps off his bat, well above average bat-speed at 93 mph, slight uphill through contact with his barrel path, potential 2-way next-level player. Pitching, Athletic and strong on the mound. Has a powerful arm that gets the ball downhill from an over the top release point. Uses his long legs to create good leverage. The arm action has some slight hesitation after hand break but it's fast enough to get catch up with the rest of his throwing motion. FB shows good life when he keeps it down in the zone, peaked 85 mph with a few more ticks still left in the tank. CB has 12/6 shape . When he gets good extenison it carries into the zone with good depth. The CH is still developing but with his arm slot it should be a pitch that becomes easier for him to command. If he can develop more consistent timing and tempo with his delivery, he should be able to stay in the bottom of the zone more consistently.
May 2018
Showed good command striking out six in 3 innings of work in a game that was called. Featured smooth repeatable mechanics; fastball sat 84 MPH and touched 85 MPH during his 3 innings of work. Mechanics are clean, utilizes his lower body well, and has great body language on the mound. At the plate also features a smooth swing with quick hands through the zone. Has upward barrel lift projecting gap to gap power as he continues to develop. Overall, Parliament has an athletic build with potential to compete at the next level as a dual threat. Continues to get better each outing and will be a threat come sectional time.
Preseason - West (February 19, 2018)
Standing at 6-foot-0, 185-pounds, Parliament shows athleticism from a build able to handle more weight. In the box, he uses a wide setup, loose hands with a high back elbow. Repeatable path with high-end bat-speed, barrel path is mostly level through contact with full-extension. Raw power with an exit velocity of 93 mph. Defensively very sound from the corner position, clean soft glove with quick transfer, active footwork, strong arm across the diamond. On the mound Parliament keeps getting better. Tempo is fluid with sound mechanics, deep arm-action that stays fluid, releases the ball from a high 3/4 slot using full hip separation on his stride. Fastball sat 84-86 with late life and run, curveball has 12/6 sharp shape and looks advanced, change-up sat upper 70's (slightly firm) with downward depth. High-end 2020 we are excited to follow this spring and summer.
Futures Games (August 2017)
NY Games (June 25-27, 2017)
Athletic 5-foot-11 with a projectable body ran 7.25/60 time. Offensively - smooth and level through the strike, comfortable driving the ball to the middle with an impressive exit velocity of 87 MPH, extends well with strong hands. Defensively - emerging footwork from third base with an position velocity of 80 MPH, soft hands, strong, accurate arm across the infield. Pitching - loose, clean delivery, uses height to create downward plane, late movement on fastball at 80-82, peaked at 83 MPH creates weak contact, shows confidence on 12 to 6 curveball at 65-66 MPH. Chance to be very good on the mound.
Preseason All-State (February 20th, 2017)
Parliament stands at 5-foot-11, 170 pounds. Had a 60 yard dash time of 7.17 seconds, down from 7.36 seconds in October 2016. Offensively- Begins with feet a little wider than shoulders and knees slightly bent with an even stance. Hands begin at back shoulder with bat straight up and down. Uses a small stride that lands even as hands load backwards slightly. Barrel is on a short path with strong extension through contact. Swing plane is uphill. Hips are completely rotational during the swing. High, two handed finish above front shoulder. Improved exit velocity to 86 MPH off of the tee, up from 77 MPH in October 2016. Defensively- Approaches the ball with smooth infield actions. Fields ball with feet wide and most bend coming at the waist. Fields ball with hands underneath his body and funnels to midsection. Took awhile to get rid of ball and used double shuffle on throws. Over the top arm action on throws of 79 MPH across the infield, up 2 MPH from October. Pitching- Begins with feet close together in the middle of the rubber with legs straight. Small side step that allows right foot to pivot onto rubber. Knee lift comes to just above waist height at balance point. Long stride that lands slightly open on 1B side of mound. Ball comes out of glove and stabs ground behind body. Over the top arm slot that comes through close to ear with head pull to 1B side. Hand pulls down hard while extending to plate. Fastball showed downhill plane and life in the zone in the 81-83 MPH range, up from previous best velocity of 79 MPH. Commanded fastball well to bottom of the zone. Also threw a straight changeup at 73-74 MPH. Curveball was 62-64 MPH with much improved late, downhill break.
Last Chance Preview (October 30, 2016)
Parliament, a 2020 right-handed hitting third baseman/pitcher, stands at 5-foot-11 and weighs 165 pounds, ran a 7.36 60. Offensively-. Starts with a wide slight crouched lower base hands directly in front of the back shoulder and bat straight up and down with the back elbow 90-degrees to the ground. Launch phase is initiated by using a shift of weight to the back side while the lead foot is lifted but gets down in the same spot with striding forward. Drove the ball from center to the pull side line, showing a strong two handed finish which created good backspin and trajectory towards the middle of the field. Seems a bit stiff but makes it work. Compact strong swing recording an exit velocity of 77 MPH on the day. Defensively- Showed some good athleticism around the bag and ability to read the ball off the bat and create hops using quality footwork. Fielded the ball of the left side of the body, funneling the ball waist high and transferring from there using a bit longer arm action. Throws showed good carry and accuracy, recording an arm velocity of 77 MPH on the day. Pitching- Starts from the center of the rubber with both hands held chest high. Gets to the gathered position by using a drop step towards the first base side while the pivot foot drags to the first base side of the rubber as well, gets the knee waist high while the hands remain chest high. Separates the hands getting some tilt with the shoulders, sticks the landing with the lead knee getting outside of the foot and lead elbow very loose, but shows quality toe drag. Fastball topped out at 79 MPH with a max effort delivery, but there’s much more there with a mechanical adjustment to the front side which will help the command as well as increase the velocity. Curveball showed ability to be a quality showing tight spin with 11-to-5 movement and topping out at 67 MPH, but could be more consistent. Changeup showed quality depth and spin, showing straight action with a plus differential from the fastball at 65 MPH.
