2023 Rankings Week
September 8, 2022
Our rankings system is the heartbeat of the Prep Baseball Report. Our staff of over 100 scouts scour the country on a daily basis, from showcase events, high school baseball seasons, summer tournaments and more to find and evaluate the best prospects across the country. Our team is second to none, and with our expansive reach we have the ability to rank more players through intimate knowledge of their skill sets better than anyone.
Starting September 5 our states will begin to roll out individual state rankings for the 2023 class. Below is an outline of the week ahead and what to expect and look for as we countdown to the Overall Rankings release on Friday, September 9.
Monday
September 5Alabama | Arkansas | Florida | Georgia | Kentucky | Louisiana | Maryland | Mississippi | Tennessee | Virginia
In Florida, 3B Aidan Miller (JW Mitchell, FL) holds on to the top spot. The Arkansas commit has been atop the Florida rankings since its release, and tore up the 2022 summer circuit capping it off with a nomination to Team USA 18u, expect to hear Miller’s name called on Day 1 of the 2023 MLB Draft. At No. 2 is a newcomer to Florida in LHP Cam Johnson (IMG Academy, FL). The LSU commit heads to IMG for his senior year after previously attending school in Maryland. Johnson is a big southpaw with a lot of arm strength in the mid 90s and can run it up to 95+ at times. ¾ arm slot. LHP/OF Jake Brown (Sulphur HS) moves into the top spot in Louisiana. Also a Team USA 18u nomination, he capped off his 2022 summer looking like a legitimate high follow draft prospect.
Tuesday
September 6Colorado | Kansas | Minnesota | Missouri | Nebraska | Oklahoma | Texas | Utah | North Carolina | South Carolina
Maintaining his spot atop the Missouri 2023 board is LHP Adam Hachman (Timberland, MO; Arkansas commit), who’s one of the nation’s top left-handed arms. You’ll be hard pressed to find many arms in the nation with more life than Hachman, as we’ve seen his fastball reach upwards of 97-98 mph. A high octane performer on this year’s summer circuit, Hachman is currently representing Team USA and expect him to generate plenty of MLB Draft buzz this year.
Wednesday
September 7Illinois | Indiana | Iowa | Michigan | New England | New Jersey | New York | Ohio | Pennsylvania | Wisconsin
Day 3 of Rankings Week is highlighted by potentially the top two high school picks in the MLB Draft. Indiana's Max Clark (Franklin, IN, Vanderbilt commit) is one of those players you don’t want to take your eye off, because you may miss something special. The 6-foot-1, 190 pounder does everything on the baseball field and does it at the highest level. Another Vanderbilt commit, LHP Thomas White (Phillips Academy Andover, MA) headlines the New England Rankings, and rightfully so. He's likely heading into 2023 as the top pitching prospect in the country with the ability to run his fastball up to 98 mph with little effort.
Thursday
September 8Arizona | California | Canada | Nevada | Oregon | Washington
SS Roman Martin (Servite, CA, UCLA commit) is the new No. 1 in California. At SS it's an elite skillset where his foot quickness, advanced glove-to-hand, and strong arm put him among the top defensive SS's in his class nationally. High end SoCal SS’s have a knack for going high come draft time and the sky's the limit for Martin.
