Kansas Rankings Update: 2023 Class

After games this spring and a summer packed with talented showcase event, it is time to update the Kansas '25 Class Rankings. Below, we take an in-depth look at the top rankings risers, newcomers, and the top 10 along with the full updated rankings.

Top 3
A tight group at the top, any of these top prospects could emerge as the top prospect in the Sunflower state this coming spring.

Ashton Larson OF / St Thomas Acquinas, KS / 2023The left-handed hitter has shown the ability to hit for average against some of the top arms in the country along with some gap to gap pop. The LSU commits swing shows the pollish to be ready to hit at the next level on day one.

Kasey Crawford RHP / OF / Olathe West, KS / 2023Crawfords delivery and arm action give hitters a unique and uncomfortable look as he nearly sidearms a low 90s fastball with heavy arm-side run to the dish. The right-hander also shows a plus changeup at times. When he finds the same consistency with his hard slider, Crawford will be nearly unhittable. The OU commit will remind Sooner fans of former Friday night start Wyatt Olds.

Jeremy Comer OF / St James Academy, KS / 2023A lean athlete with wiry strength, Comer has shown he has a loud of barrel as anyone in the class with exit velos of 101 with wood and averaging above 90. If Comer continues to polish his game, Tennessee might not get this left-handed bat to campus.

Risers
As with every season that goes by, many players take major leaps physically and developmentally. Below are some of the biggest risers since our latest rankings.

Brady Kern OF / SS / Lawrence Free State , KS / 2023The multi positional standout has mad a big of jump as any player in this rankings update. Kern jumped off of the page at the MOKAN Upperclass Games this summer where he showed off elite speed and the ability to play sold defense anywhere on the infield or outfield.

Jack Scott RHP / OF / Olathe West, KS / 2023It was only ever a matter of time until the long and athletic Scott saw a velo jump. Always a clean mover with a quick arm, the addition of some strength has produced fastballs consistently into the upper 80s for the still very projectable right-hander.

Jackson Cross RHP / OF / Russell, KS / 2023The athletic right-hander filled up the zone at the KS Summer Open. Cross featured a fastball up to 86 with above average spin rates.

Newcomers
This summer, we found a couple of difference makers who earned their way into our rankings. All three of the prospects below enter the rankings in the top 10.

Brandon Stone RHP / 1B / Shawnee Mission West, KS / 2023Sone is a physically impressive 6-foot-6 right-hander who just keeps getting better and better. Stone continues to polish his delivery to get more out of his XL frame. Already into the low 90s, Stone will likely see more velo in the near future. Not just a power arm though, Stone competes in the zone and spins a sharp breaking ball as well.

Jerdy Lopez SS / SS / Life Prep Academy, KS / 2023The tools are loud for Lopez who posted a 6.58 60, 91 info velo and 90+ from both sides of the dish at the KS Summer Open. Jerdy's calling card through is his quick feet and soft hands on the defensive side of the ball. |

Edwin Enrique Lemus Hudson Jr C / 1B / Life Prep Academy , KS / 2023There is arguably not a better prep catch and throw catcher (at least in a showcase setting) in the country. Showing times of 1.72-1.82, it was not only the quickness, but strength, accuracy, and carry on his throws to second that set Edwin apart. |
