All-State Games Commitment Tracker (Jan 2021)
December 28, 2021
On January 30th, 2021, PBR Arizona hosted the annual Upperclass All-State Games. With the 2022 All-State Games just around the corner, we take a look back at the commitments of last year's All-State Games Participants.
68 players were in attendance at last years event, 39 of which have either moved on to that next level, or signed their Letter of Intent to play in the spring of 2023.
Here at PBR, we value our All-State Games events. We see this as an opportunity for the best talent in the state to be on the same diamond. This allows players to see and know what it takes to compete at a high level. It also allows players to build relationships with PBR Staff and see where they stack up against their peers.
We're looking forward to another round of All-State Games in January. If you have not received an invite to the event:

1/30/21
6-foot-4, 180-pounds, Arizona State commit, tall, long-levered body, present athleticism & projectability. Worked out as a two-way player but upside is on the mound. Left-handed hitter, square upright base, uses quick leg kick with limited body control. Upper body dominant swing, opens frontside early, mid-pull approach, 88.37mph exit velocity, varying contact. Serviceable outfielder with strong arm at 89mph. Active feet, fields ball on side, keeps feet moving creating some direction, uses traditional crow hop. Strong upside on the mound. Athletic easy effort delivery from 1B side of the rubber, high leg kick. Creates hip/shoulder separation. Throws with short loose arm action from H3/4 arm slot. Mostly two-pitch mix. FB sat 83-85mph, topping at 85.67 via trackman with some arm side run. Threw a slurvy breaking ball at 68-72mph that broke 18.7in to the glove side at its best. Low spin CH has a chance to be a solid 3rd offering that could be thrown more in the future. Has the qualities to continue to make progress on the mound. |
Brandon Compton LHP / OF / Buckeye Union , AZ / 2022
1/30/21 6-foot, 195-pounds, San Diego commit, large strong bodied frame, noticeably stronger, looks like he's gained at least 15-pounds with big legs & chest. One of the more capable two-way potential players out there. Strength translated to the field where he's improved in almost every category. Hits from a sturdy, semi spread out base, uses a leg kick while maintaining a strong back leg into front footstrike, lands in a solid power position. Short balanced swing with middle of the field approach, mostly flyball contact on the day. Displayed more power potential with increased bat speed, hit a ball at 96mph at 371ft in BP. Capable defensive outfielder with a strong arm at 93mph, firm footwork with average jumps, ran a 7.38 60-yard dash. Made huge strides on the mound from previous viewing, using a clean athletic delivery from 3B side of the rubber with short stride. Throws with clean arm action from a H3/4 arm slot. FB worked mostly 85-88mph, topping at 89.6mph vis Trackman. FB has solid ride through the zone, averaging 19.1in of IVM. CV was a plus offering at 70-73mph, showing 12/6 shape with swing & miss capability, averaging -17.9in of depth. Mixed in CH that was thrown for strikes at 72-73mph. Compton seems to make improvements every time out. |
