2022 LHP Brandon Koble (Red Mountain)- 6-foot-4, 180-pounds, Arizona State commit, tall, long-levered body, present athleticism & projectability. Worked out as a two-way player but upside is on the mound. Left-handed hitter, square upright base, uses quick leg kick with limited body control. Upper body dominant swing, opens frontside early, mid-pull approach, 88.37mph exit velocity, varying contact. Serviceable outfielder with strong arm at 89mph. Active feet, fields ball on side, keeps feet moving creating some direction, uses traditional crow hop. Strong upside on the mound. Athletic easy effort delivery from 1B side of the rubber, high leg kick. Creates hip/shoulder separation. Throws with short loose arm action from H3/4 arm slot. Mostly two-pitch mix. FB sat 83-85mph, topping at 85.67 via trackman with some arm side run. Threw a slurvy breaking ball at 68-72mph that broke 18.7in to the glove side at its best. Low spin CH has a chance to be a solid 3rd offering that could be thrown more in the future. Has the qualities to continue to make progress on the mound.
10/18/20
Extremely projectable LHP with a high ceiling. 6’4 180 with long levers and room to add strength. Works from the 1B side of the rubber, good direction to the plate with an athletic, low effort delivery and whippy arm. Creates a lot of h/s separation but needs to rotate more aggressively on the back side to capture the energy to create a good lead leg block. Throws from a high ¾ delivery. Consistent Fastball at 82-84 MPh with great extension and arm side run. Curveball and slider spin well (2000 rpm) but are very similar in shape with more slurve than curve or slider. Slider was a little ahead of the curve. Change up is a plus offering with fade and depth off the fastball with low spin. Thrown as a power pitch with good pace 74-76 mph and should produce swing and miss. Impressive arm that should be off the board soon.
1/07/18
5-foot-7, 120-pound frame. Worked 67-68, on the mound, touching 69 mph from a high arm slot. Clean delivery with some slight head violence at release. Big 56-59 mph curveball showed consistent rotation and varying shape. Also threw 58-61 mph changeup that showed both fading and cutting action at different times. Offensively, hits from very wide base with virtually no stride or hand load. Lower half works well in soring for young prospect; loading hands deeper will create better separation and plane in swing. Power will increase with strength; 71 mph exit velocity. Solid outfield actions; 72 mph outfield velo. 8.20 60-yard dash.
