In mid-July, over 30 players took part in our Top Prospect Games II showcase at City Stadium in Lynchburg. Today, we begin our detailed breakdown of that event with the pitchers
Robert Boykin RHP / St. Christopher's, VA / 2021Boykin is 6-3 with a lanky frame that has a lot of projection left to it. He throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, longer free arm action and normal effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery, shoulders are slightly downhill and closed, swings into landing on line with a fall off finish. Fastball was 78-81, touching 83, with late hard armside run. Slider had some armspeed and was 69-71 with 11/5 break to it. Change-up was 71-73 with good armspeed and some heavy sink to it. |
Luke Craddock 1B / OF / Highland School, VA / 2025Craddock is 5-11 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a three-quarters arm slot, longer free arm action and normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are downhill and closed, lands closed with an athletic finish. Fastball was 69-72, touching 73, with some sink to it. Curveball had some armspeed and was 65-66 with gradual 11/5 break to it. |
Brock Duff RHP / 1B / Liberty Christian Academy, VA / 2021Duff is a UVA Wise commit and is 6-2 with an athletic frame that has some strength present and some projection left to it. He throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, shorter free arm action that is quick and some effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and slightly closed, lands square with an athletic finish. Fastball was 82-85, with downward angle and some late run to it. Curveball had good armspeed and was 66-67 with sharp 11/5 break to it. |
Jakob Foster RHP / 3B / Patriot, VA / 2023Foster is 6-2 with a lankier athletic frame that has a lot of projection left to it. He throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, short loose arm action that is quick and normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and closed, lands square with a slight fall off finish and recoil. Fastball was 81-83, with downward angle and some late two-plane life to it. Curveball had good armspeed and was 66-68 with sharp hard 10/4 break to it. Change-up was 75-76 with good armspeed and some late run to it. |
Joe Gomez RHP / SS / Fluvanna County , VA / 2023Gomez is 5-10 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, shorter free arm action that is quick and easier effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and closed, lands square with an athletic finish. Fastball was 80-81, with some late armside run to it. Curveball had some armspeed and was 63-66 with sharp 11/5 break to it and some shape as well. Change-up was 63-66 with some armspeed and heavy sink to it. |
Colton Harris RHP / 3B / Stuarts Draft, VA / 2022Harris is 6-2 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a higher three-quarters arm slot, short free arm action that is quick and some effort to his delivery. Shoulders are level and closed, lands slightly closed with an athletic finish. Fastball was 77-80, with some armside run to it and some cut when thrown to gloveside. Curveball had some armspeed and was 65-68 with sharp 12/6 break to it. Change-up was 72-73 with good armspeed and late sink to it. |
Kevin Holroyd RHP / 3B / Brentsville District , VA / 2021Holroyd is 6-1 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a low three-quarters arm slot and drops down to submarine sometimes, shorter free arm action and normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are level and closed, lands slightly closed with an athletic finish. Fastball was 76-78, with some armside run to it from up top and heavy sink when he drops down. Curveball had some armspeed and was 67-68 with sharp 11/5 break to it from up top and sweeping slider action from down low. Change-up was 73-74 with good armspeed and late fade to it. |
Andrew Huffmyer LHP / 1B / Western Albemarle , VA / 2024Huffmyer is 5-10 with an athletic frame that has some projection left to it. He throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, short free arm action and normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and closed, lands slightly closed with an athletic finish.
