In mid-July, over 30 players took part in our Top Prospect Games II showcase at City Stadium in Lynchburg. Today, we begin our detailed breakdown of that event with the pitchers

 

 

 

 

Robert Boykin RHP / St. Christopher's, VA / 2021 Boykin is 6-3 with a lanky frame that has a lot of projection left to it. He throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, longer free arm action and normal effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery, shoulders are slightly downhill and closed, swings into landing on line with a fall off finish. Fastball was 78-81, touching 83, with late hard armside run. Slider had some armspeed and was 69-71 with 11/5 break to it. Change-up was 71-73 with good armspeed and some heavy sink to it.

 

 

Luke Craddock 1B / OF / Highland School, VA / 2025 Craddock is 5-11 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a three-quarters arm slot, longer free arm action and normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are downhill and closed, lands closed with an athletic finish. Fastball was 69-72, touching 73, with some sink to it. Curveball had some armspeed and was 65-66 with gradual 11/5 break to it.

 

 

Brock Duff RHP / 1B / Liberty Christian Academy, VA / 2021 Duff is a UVA Wise commit and is 6-2 with an athletic frame that has some strength present and some projection left to it. He throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, shorter free arm action that is quick and some effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and slightly closed, lands square with an athletic finish. Fastball was 82-85, with downward angle and some late run to it. Curveball had good armspeed and was 66-67 with sharp 11/5 break to it.

 

 

Jakob Foster RHP / 3B / Patriot, VA / 2023 Foster is 6-2 with a lankier athletic frame that has a lot of projection left to it. He throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, short loose arm action that is quick and normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and closed, lands square with a slight fall off finish and recoil. Fastball was 81-83, with downward angle and some late two-plane life to it. Curveball had good armspeed and was 66-68 with sharp hard 10/4 break to it. Change-up was 75-76 with good armspeed and some late run to it.

 

 

Joe Gomez RHP / SS / Fluvanna County , VA / 2023 Gomez is 5-10 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, shorter free arm action that is quick and easier effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and closed, lands square with an athletic finish. Fastball was 80-81, with some late armside run to it. Curveball had some armspeed and was 63-66 with sharp 11/5 break to it and some shape as well. Change-up was 63-66 with some armspeed and heavy sink to it.

 

 

Colton Harris RHP / 3B / Stuarts Draft, VA / 2022 Harris is 6-2 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a higher three-quarters arm slot, short free arm action that is quick and some effort to his delivery. Shoulders are level and closed, lands slightly closed with an athletic finish. Fastball was 77-80, with some armside run to it and some cut when thrown to gloveside. Curveball had some armspeed and was 65-68 with sharp 12/6 break to it. Change-up was 72-73 with good armspeed and late sink to it.

 

 

Kevin Holroyd RHP / 3B / Brentsville District , VA / 2021 Holroyd is 6-1 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a low three-quarters arm slot and drops down to submarine sometimes, shorter free arm action and normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are level and closed, lands slightly closed with an athletic finish. Fastball was 76-78, with some armside run to it from up top and heavy sink when he drops down. Curveball had some armspeed and was 67-68 with sharp 11/5 break to it from up top and sweeping slider action from down low. Change-up was 73-74 with good armspeed and late fade to it.

 

 

Andrew Huffmyer LHP / 1B / Western Albemarle , VA / 2024 Huffmyer is 5-10 with an athletic frame that has some projection left to it. He throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, short free arm action and normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and closed, lands slightly closed with an athletic finish. Fastball was 63-66, with some sink to it. Curveball had some armspeed and was 55-56 with gradual 1/7 break to it.

 

 

Ethan Ketron LHP / OF / Abingdon, VA / 2022 Ketron is 6-3 with an athletic frame that has some projection left to it. He throws from a three-quarters arm slot, short loose arm action and normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are slightly uphill and closed, lands closed with a fall off finish. Fastball was 76-77, touching 78, with some heavy cut to it. Curveball had some armspeed and was 63-66 with sharp 1/7 break to it.

 

 

Neo Klemish OF / RHP / Grafton, VA / 2022 EKlemish is 5-8 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a three-quarters arm slot, short free arm action with some quickness and normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are slightly uphill and slightly closed, lands on line with an athletic finish and recoil. Fastball was 74-76, touching 77, with some run and sink to it. Curveball had some armspeed and was 63-64 with gradual 11/5 break to it.

 

 

Aaron Lautenschlager SS / RHP / Loudoun Valley, VA / 2021 Lautenschlager is a Randolph-Macon commit and is 6-0 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a three-quarters arm slot, longer loose arm action with some quickness and normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are level to slightly downhill and slightly closed, lands slightly open with an athletic finish and some recoil. Fastball was 80-83, with some  late armside run to it. Curveball had some armspeed and was 66-68 with gradual 11/5 break to it.

 

 

Patrick Rakes 1B / LHP / Miller School of Albermarle , VA / 2023 Rakes is 6-3 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a lower three-quarters arm slot, shorter free arm action with some quickness and normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are closed and slightly uphill, lands square with an athletic finish and some recoil. Fastball was 79-80, touching 81, with some angle and late armside run to it. Slider had some armspeed and was 68-70 with late hard 2/8 break to it.

 

 

Chase Sanford OF / RHP / Atlee, VA / 2022 Sanford is 6-0 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, very short free arm action and some effort to his delivery. Shoulders are closed and slightly uphill, lands closed with a hard fall off finish and recoil. Fastball was 77-80, touching 81, with heavy armside run to it. Curveball had some armspeed and was 64-67 with hard 10/4 break to it.
