Lautenschlager is a Randolph-Macon commit. He started the game on the mound and worked 2+ innings. Throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, short arm action and normal effort to his delivery. Fastball was 78-81x, showed a change-up at 76 and a curveball at 67-69. Did a good job of changing speeds and keeping hitters off balance, worked fastball to both sides of the plate. Got squeezed on the corners driving his walk number up, but put up a momentum seizing zero in the first after Valley jumped out in the top half of the inning, ending that inning with both of his strikeouts. At the plate, showed good discipline in his first at-bat, waiting out Clarke and not chasing out of the zone. In his other at-bats, showed a gap to gap approach, barreling the ball just not finding holes. Hit situationally well with an RBI groundout. Played short after pitching and played well, has range and playmaking ability at short. Made a very tough play on a chopper in the hole, charging it and fielding and then throwing off balance with accuracy to get a tough out.
Unsigned Senior Games
Lautenschlager is 6-0 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from an open athletic stance, low leg kick stride on line, smooth load up to a wrap. Hips rotate completely with violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short and quick to the ball, slightly uphill swing path, strong at contact with some extension through the ball, showed a good approach working primarily gap to gap, ball carries off his bat in the gaps, doubles power to all fields, exit velocity was 90. In the infield, rounds the ball and fields with a good wide base and soft hands, works through ball to a quick clean exchange, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, quick loose arm, position velocity was 86. Ran a 7.21 60 yard dash.
TPG II
Lautenschlager is 6-0 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, low leg kick stride on line, short load back to a wrap. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short and quick to the ball, level line drive swing with some batspeed, showed a good approach working gap to gap, ball carries in the gaps, exit velocity was 85. In the infield, rounds the ball and fields with a wider base and above average hands, works through the ball to a quick clean exchange, throws from a three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 83. He ran 7.19 60 yard dash. On the mound, he throws from a three-quarters arm slot, longer loose arm action with some quickness and normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are level to slightly downhill and slightly closed, lands slightly open with an athletic finish and some recoil. Fastball was 80-83, with some late armside run to it. Curveball had some armspeed and was 66-68 with gradual 11/5 break to it.
