In the last weekend of October, PBR Virginia/DC hosted its inaugural State Games, which featured over 180 players and two locations, City Stadium and Liberty University in Lynchburg. We continue our detailed breakdown of that event with the second part of the 2022s who participated:

 

 

 

 

Max Ehrhardt 2B / SS / Patriot, VA / 2022 Ehrhardt is 5-11 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, strides on line, short smooth load back. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing, has strength at contact and some extension through the ball, showed a good approach working primarily gap to gap, some power present to pull side, exit velocity was 91. In the infield, rounds the ball and fields with a wider base and soft hands, works through ball to a clean exchange, throws from a three-quarters arm slot, short arm action position velocity was 83. Ran a 7.37 60 yard dash.

 

 

Anthony Gabello RHP / 1B / Hanover, VA / 2022 Gabello is a James Madison commit and is 6-3 with a big athletic frame that has strength and some projection left to it. He throws from a lower three-quarters arm slot, short loose quick arm action and some effort to his delivery. Big high leg kick, shoulders are uphill and closed, lands slightly closed with some fall off in his finish and some recoil. Fastball was 85-87, touching 88, with downward angle and some heavy late armside run. Curveball had good armspeed and was 72-73 with late hard 12/6 break to it, pitch flashes swing and miss down.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Bradley Gagen LHP / Independence, VA / 2022 Gagen is a Tennessee commit and is 6-2 with a lanky athletic frame that has a lot of projection left to it. He throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, short loose arm action and easier effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and closed, lands slightly closed with an athletic finish. Fastball was 82-84, with some boring action to armside and a bit of late depth. Curveball had good armspeed with late sharp 2/8 break to it, pitch flashes swing and miss down. Showed change-up in warmups with good armspeed and heavy fade to it.

 

 

Jack Gagen C / 2B / Independence, VA / 2022 Gagen is 6-1 with an athletic frame that has some strength in the lower half and some projection left to it. He hits from the right side from an open balanced stance, two step stride on line, smooth load back, some rhythm in his set-up. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains some lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short to the ball, uphill line drive swing with a strong contact point, showed a pull approach, some power present to his pull side with some natural loft in his swing, exit velocity was 84. Behind the plate, clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, short arm action, position velocity was 69 and pop times 2.10-2.25. Showed some accuracy on his throws.

 

 

Clay Grady SS / 2B / Nansemond River, VA / 2022 Grady is a Virginia Tech commit and is 5-8 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from an open balanced relaxed stance, low leg kick stride on line, smooth load back to a slight wrap. Hips rotate completely and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short and quick to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing, showed a good approach working primarily gap to gap, some power present in the gaps, exit velocity was 91. In the infield, quick active feet, rounds the ball and fields with a wider base and quick soft hands, works through ball to a quick clean exchange, throws from a three-quarters arm slot, short loose arm action. Ran a 6.73 60 yard dash.

 

 

Jaden Greenidge 3B / SS / Monacan, VA / 2022 Greenidge is 6-0 with an athletic frame that has strength present in the lower half and some projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, short leg kick stride on line, smooth load back to a slight wrap. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains some lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short to the ball, slightly uphill swing path, gets extension through the ball, showed a pull approach with some natural loft in his swing, some power present to pull side, exit velocity was 89. In the infield, rounds the ball and fields with a wider base and above average hands, works through ball to a clean exchange, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, short arm action position velocity was 84. Jalen Greenidge OF / 1B / Monacan, VA / 2022 Greenidge is 6-0 with an athletic frame that has strength present in the lower half and some projection left to it. He hits from the right side from an open more relaxed balanced stance, leg kick stride on line, loads back to a slight wrap. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains some lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing path, some strength at contact, showed a primarily pull approach with the ability to use the whole field, some power present to pull side with potential to grow into more, exit velocity was 88. In the outfield, gets body behind the ball and fields through it with above average hands, quick clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, short arm action, position velocity was 78. Jack Griese SS / 3B / Chantilly, VA / 2022 Griese is 6-1 with an athletic frame that has some strength present and some projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a balanced open athletic stance, low leg kick stride on line, short smooth load back. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains some lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short and quick to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing, has strength at contact and some extension through the ball, showed a good approach using the whole field, extra base power present to all fields, exit velocity was 87. In the infield, rounds the ball and fields with a wider base and above average hands, works through ball to a quick clean exchange, throws from a three-quarters arm slot, short arm action position velocity was 84. Caleb Grizzard LHP / OF / Cosby, VA / 2022 Grizzard is an Old Dominion commit and is 6-1 with an athletic frame that has some strength in the lower half and a lot of projection left to it. He hits from the left side from a slightly open more relaxed balanced stance, strides on line, smooth load back. Hips rotate completely with violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short and quick to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing path, strong at contact with extension through the ball, showed a primarily pull approach with the ability to use the whole field, power present to pull side with potential to grow into a lot more power, exit velocity was 89. Ran a 7.45 60 yard dash. On the mound, he throws from a three-quarters arm slot, short loose arm action and easy effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and on line, lands square with a hard fall off finish. Fastball was 81-83, with some late hard armside run with a bit of depth. Curveball had good armspeed and was 66-70 with sharp 1/7 break to it.

 

 

Ryan Grzesiak RHP / OF / John Champe, VA / 2022 Grzesiak is a Virginia Tech commit and is 6-5 with a very lanky athletic frame that has a ton of projection left to it. He throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, longer loose lightning quick arm action and easy effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and closed, lands slightly closed with a slight fall off finish. Fastball was 86-89, touching 90, with a lot of downward angle and some late hard armside run. Curveball had good armspeed and was 73-75 with sharp 11/5 break to it, good shape to it already, pitch flashes swing and miss. Change-up was 79-82 with good armspeed and some hard late fade to it.

 

 

Reece Hamilton SS / RHP / James River (Midlothian), VA / 2022 Hamilton is 6-2 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a balanced open athletic stance, strides on line, short smooth load back. Hips rotate completely and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, attacks straight to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing, showed a good approach using the whole field, potential to grow into some extra base power, exit velocity was 83. In the infield, rounds the ball and fields with a wider base and average hands, works through ball to a clean exchange, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, short arm action position velocity was 75. Ran a 7.64 60 yard dash. On the mound, he throws from a lower three-quarters arm slot that he sometimes drops below sidearm, short free arm action and normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are level and closed, lands closed with an athletic finish. Fastball was 74-78, with some late hard armside run that adds heavy sink to it when he drops down. Curveball had some armspeed and was 64-67 with gradual 11/5 break to it, break is more 10/4 to sweep from lower slot.

 

 

Nicholas Hamm OF / 2B / Briar Woods , VA / 2022 Hamm is 5-10 with an athletic frame that has strength present and plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a tall open relaxed stance, low leg kick stride on line, smooth load back to a slight wrap. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains some lower half balance. Hands stay inside, quick to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing path, strong contact point with extension through the ball, showed a good approach using the whole field, some power present to pull side with potential to grow into more, exit velocity was 86. In the outfield, gets body behind the ball and fields through it with above average hands, clean exchange, throws from a lower three-quarters arm slot, short arm action, position velocity was 74. Ran a 6.85 60 yard dash.

 

 

Josh Hand OF / SS / Independence, VA / 2022 Hand is 6-1 with an athletic frame that has strength present and some projection left to it. He hits from the right side from an open balanced athletic stance, low leg kick stride on line, smooth load back to a slight wrap. Hips rotate completely with violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short and quick to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing path, strength at contact with extension through the ball, showed a primarily pull approach with the ability to use the whole field, some power present with potential to grow into more, exit velocity was 90. In the outfield, gets body behind the ball and aggressively fields through it with above average hands, clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, short quick arm action, position velocity was 86. Jasiah Harris SS / 2B / SSSAS, VA / 2022 Harris is 5-10 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open athletic stance, leg kick stride on line, smooth load back to a slight wrap. Hips rotate completely and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing, showed a good approach using the whole field, potential to grow into some gap power which will play up with his speed, exit velocity was 83. Cory Hatcher OF / RHP / St. John's College, VA / 2022 Hatcher is 5-9 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, low leg kick stride on line, short smooth load back. Hips rotate completely and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing path, showed a primarily pull approach with the ability to use the whole field, exit velocity was 80. In the outfield, gets body behind the ball and fields through it with above average hands, quick clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, short arm action, position velocity was 72. Noah Hertzler RHP / Broadway , VA / 2022 Hertzler is 6-2 with an athletic frame that has some strength in the lower half and some projection left to it. He throws from a three-quarters arm slot, very short loose quick arm action and some effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and closed, lands open with an athletic finish. Fastball was 86-87, with late hard armside run that has some depth. Curveball had good armspeed and was 73-75 with late sharp 11/5 break to it, some shape to it, has a chance to be swing and miss.

 

 

 

Riley Hill OF / RHP / Franklin County, VA / 2022 Hill is 5-5 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from an open more relaxed balanced stance, low leg kick stride on line, loads back to a wrap. Hips rotate completely and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing path, has a strong contact point, showed a primarily pull approach with the ability to use the whole field, exit velocity was 81. In the outfield, gets body behind the ball and fields through it with soft hands, quick clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, short arm action, position velocity was 78. Showed versatility taking balls in the infield where his velocity was 74. Ran a 7.58 60 yard dash. On the mound, he throws from a lower three-quarters arm slot, short free arm action and normal effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery, shoulders are level and on line, lands closed with a fall off finish. Fastball was 74-77, with late sink and a bit of armside run to it. Curveball had some armspeed and was 58-63 with gradual 11/5 break to it.

 

 

Sullivan Holmes RHP / OF / Liberty Christian Academy, VA / 2022 Holmes is a Liberty commit and is 6-3 with a very lanky frame that has a lot of projection left to it. He throws from a three-quarters arm slot, short loose quick arm action and normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are level and slightly closed, lands closed with a slight fall off finish and some recoil. Fastball was 84-86, touching 88, with late boring armside run that gets a bit of sink as well. Curveball had good armspeed and was 73-74 with sharp hard 11/5 break to it, some shape present with a chance to be swing and miss. Change-up was 79-80 with good armspeed and hard late run.

 

 

Collin Hughes C / 3B / Cosby, VA / 2022 Hughes is 5-11 with an athletic frame that has some strength present and some projection left to it. He hits from the left side from a slightly open leaned back athletic stance, strides on line, smooth load back, some rhythm present. Hips rotate completely with violence and he maintains some lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short and quick to the ball, uphill swing with strength at contact and extension through the ball, showed a the ability to use the whole field, some power present to all fields with natural loft in his swing, exit velocity was 92. Behind the plate, clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, short arm action, position velocity was 73 and pop times 2.08-2.16. Showed some accuracy on his throws. Ran a 7.53 60 yard dash.

 

 

Jerrod Jenkins RHP / C / Millbrook , VA / 2022 Jenkins is 6-3 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He is a switch hitter, from the left side, hits from a tall relaxed open stance, strides on line, short smooth load back to a slight wrap. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short and quick to the ball, uphill line drive swing with a strong contact point and some extension through the ball, showed a pull approach with some power present to his pull side with natural loft in his swing. From the right side, hits from a tall relaxed open stance, short stride on line, smooth load down, hips rotate completely and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short to ball, slightly uphill line drive swing, strong contact point with extension through the ball, showed a good approach using the whole field, some power in the gaps. Best exit velocity was 89. Behind the plate, clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, short arm action, position velocity was 72 and pop times 2.08-2.21. Showed some accuracy on his throws. Ran a 7.70 60 yard dash. On the mound, he throws from a very high three-quarters arm slot, short free quick arm action and some effort to his delivery. Leaned back delivery, shoulders are uphill and closed, lands closed with a fall off finish. Fastball was 78-82, a lot of downward angle and some late armside run. Curveball had some armspeed and was 69-70 with late hard 11/5 break to it.

 

 

Andrew Jones RHP / C / Midlothian, VA / 2022 Jones is 6-1 with an athletic frame that has some strength present and some projection left to it. He throws from a higher three-quarters arm slot, longer free arm action with some quickness and higher effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery, shoulders are level and closed, lands closed with a fall off finish and some recoil. Fastball was 80-84, touching 85, with some late armside run that also gets depth at the bottom of the zone. Curveball had good armspeed and was 72-74 with gradual 11/5 break to it.

 

 

Ethan Ketron LHP / OF / Abingdon, VA / 2022 Ketron is 6-3 with an athletic frame that has strength present in the lower half and some projection left to it. He hits from the left side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, low leg kick stride on line, loads back to a slight wrap. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains some lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing path, some strength at contact and some extension through the ball, showed a primarily pull approach with the ability to work gap to gap, some power present in the alleys with potential to grow into more, exit velocity was 87. He hits from the right side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, short stride on line, short load back. Hips rotate completely and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short to the ball, uphill line drive swing, gets extension through the ball showed a good approach using the whole field, swing has some natural loft built in, exit velocity was 82.
