Jones is 6-1 with a lankier athletic 170 pound frame that has projection still left to it. He throws from a three-quarters arm slot, longer loose quick arm action and some effort to his delivery. Shoulders are level and closed, lands closed with an athletic finish and a bit of recoil. Fastball was 82-85, touching 86, with some downward angle and a bit of late armside run. Curveball was 70-73 with good armspeed and sharp power 10/4 break to it. Change-up was 79-80 with good armspeed and some late run to it. Breaking ball shows some swing and miss.

Jones did not have his best stuff on the day, but the fastball seemed to be coming out of the hand better. Jones was in the stretch pretty much his entire outing after a dropped third strike and a thrown away ball to the leadoff hitter. He went on to strikeout the next hitter on a 85 mph fastball up in the zone, but was never able to get back in the zone after that. The fastball was 82-85 mph early and the breaking ball had 12/6 shape with tight spin and depth. Spin rate ranged between 2475-2640 and has some big swing and miss potential. The breaking ball is more of a plus pitch/put away pitch and he tended to only go to it when ahead. Interesting arm to keep an eye on as he will throw some important innings for Midlothian this year.
