It's an odd year to say the least with counties and conferences across the state beginning their seasons at different times. With some already underway, we turn our attention to another that will open their season this week; the Southern Maryland Athletic Conference. Inside the SMAC there are 14 schools between Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary's County that compete. Furthermore, those schools are divided into two separate divisions; Chesapeake and Potomac. The Potomac Division comprised of all of the Charles County schools began their season four weeks ago and will play only those teams within Charles County. The Chesapeake Division on the other hand is set to open up this Friday, May 7th with each of the seven schools playing each other twice during the regular season for a scheduled 12 games. Below is the breakdown of SMAC Chesapeake Division as well as a complete "Watch List" of players you won't want to miss in action this spring.

Note: A preseason questionnaire was sent out to all Maryland high school baseball coaches in Mid-January to gain pertinent information for this piece but not all forms were completed and returned. Below is a compilation of information received as well as thoughts from our staff at PBR Maryland.
