Early Signing Period: University of Central Arkansas

The early signing period began last Wednesday. Players from all corners of the state have been having their signing ceremonies and making their college choice official. Here is a look at the signees for University of Central Arkansas

2016 OF, Caleb Carr, White Hall HS
Carr is a 5-foot-11 180-pound left-handed outfielder with a medium frame and an athletic build. Offensively he has a short line drive swing with fast bat speed producing exit velocities up to 88 mph at Arkansas Top Prospects Games. Defensively he sound working through the baseball with an accurate arm throwing 82 mph from the outfield. Physical tools Carr is above average with sound physical strength and he runs a 6.98 in the 60. Overall Carr is a solid baseball player, above average at all phases of the game, with a workman approach to the game.

2016 LHP, Jakob Henry, Conway Christian HS
Henry is a 6-foot-4 200-pound left-hander with a large frame and an athletic build. He works from a low ¾ arm slot with a quick arm. His arm action is short with some stiffness in it. When he worked down in the strike zone he had late sink, which induced several groundballs. He complimented his 80-83 mph fastball with a 2/8 curveball with late break and average depth. Overall Henry is a projectable left-hander with a large frame, if he can clean up the arm-action and some timing issues he will continue to throw harder.

2016 CIF, Ty Kosters, Arkadelphia HS
Kosters is a 6-foot 210-pound infielder with a large frame and a physical build. An advanced offensive player with fast bat speed and a line drive swing. He has shown the ability to hit ad hit for power on a consistent bases. Defensively he has fluid footwork with a quick exchange and a strong arm. He shows that arm strength off on the mound with a fastball of 84-87 mph. Overall Kosters is a physical player with above average tools, as he continues to play he will continue to get better.

2016 OF, Zach Langston, Batesville HS
Langston is a 5-foot-11 175-pound outfielder with a medium frame and an athletic build. He runs a 6.87 in the 60. Defensively he plays through the baseball with a fluid exchange with a strong arm. He throws the ball 87 mph from the outfield. Offensively he has an advanced feel for the barrel, consistently driving the balls during games and in batting practice. He starts from an athletic stance with a smooth load, he attacks the baseball with fast bat speed and a slight uphill bat path. He maintains his rhythm and balance through extension. Overall Langston is an advanced high school player at phases of the game and should transition well to the college game

2016 RHP, Ross Rogers, Fordyce HS
Rogers is a 6-foot 180-pound right-hander with an athletic frame and build. He pitches from a H ¾ arm slot with a short quick arm. He attacks hitters with a fastball of 84-87 mph with late life through the strike zone. He compliments the fastball with a sharp breaking ball thrown with near fastball arm speed. He does a sound job mechanically working from a drop and drive balance point finishing athletically to the plate. He has smooth rhythm and a repeatable delivery. Overall Rogers is a solid athlete with a quick arm and a feel for a breaking ball. He should be a solid contributor early in his college career.

2016 C, Brinson Williams, Benton HS
Williams is a 5-foot-11 210-pound catcher with a medium frame and physical build. Defensively he starts with a good wide stance and foot position, though he would benefit from setting up earlier. Receiving he maintains good arm angel on glove side and soft hands. Brinson possess a strong arm with good carry. He works around the plate, which causes the ball to slide to the second base side. His release has room to improve. He threw 1.99, 2.03, and 2.11. Offensively is where he separated himself from the other catchers in the 2016 class. He attacks the baseball with a slight uphill swing with fast bat speed. He has advanced feel for the barrel but has shown pull power on a consistent basis. Overall he is an offensive catcher that could develop into  a solid defender as he learns the finer points of catching.

2016 RHP, Drew Young, Bentonville HS
Young is a 6-foot-1 205-pound RHP with a physical build and large frame. He pounds the bottom half of the strike zone with his 86-89 mph with slight run. He flashes a curveball with 11/5 break and late action 70-73 mph, but uses his fastball command for most of his success. Overall Young has good arm strength and repeatable delivery, he is an advanced high school pitcher who should get better overtime
