The early signing period began last Wednesday. Players from all corners of the state have been having their signing ceremonies and making their college choice official. Here is a look at the two players that committed to Arkansas Tech University.
2016 RHP Quinton Bowling, Morrilton HS
Bowling is a 6-foot- 175-pound right-hander with an athletic frame and build. He pitches from an H ¾ arm slot with a quick short arm action. He has a repeatable delivery and stays in rhythm throughout. He pounds the lower half of the strike zone on a consistent basis with a fastball of 83-86 mph. He compliments the fastball with a solid breaking ball thrown at near fastball arm speed at 71-73 mph. Overall Bowling is a solid right-hander with a quick arm, he has a feel for the strike zone and he should increase velocity as he gets stronger.
2016 RHP Hunter Lansdell, Horatio HS
Lansdell is a 6-foot-1 190-pound right-hander with a large frame and a physical build. He attacks the strike zone with a fastball of 84-87 mph with boring action. He throws a sharp slider at 74-77 mph with late break as his secondary pitch. He throws from an H ¾ arm slot with some stiffness. Mechanically he is sound working from a drop and drive balance point. He repeats his delivery and rhythm consistently allowing him to throw strikes. I would like to see him work more linear than rotation but he commands the strike zone with what he does. Overall Lansdell is physical athlete with arm strength, he should be an option to pitch early in his career.
