The NCAA early signing period started November 11th, 2015 and will run through the 18th. We expect to see several players from all corners of the state make their commitments official. Today we look at the University of Arkansas Little Rock’s signing class from within the state of Arkansas. It’s a small class but impactful. 2016 RHP Carter Brown signed his National Letter of Intent on Wednesday. Below you will find my report on Brown, from the All-State Games he participated in at Arkansas Little Rock on October 31st.
2016 RHP Carter Brown, Bentonville HS
Brown is a 6-foot-1 195-pound right-hander with a large frame and a physical build. He impressed with his fastball, on Saturday he touched 90 mph in his bullpen and on Sunday worked his inning at 86-88 mph. He mixed in a curveball at 69 mph with some depth to keep hitters off balance. Mechanically Brown works from an H ¾ arm slot with a quick arm. He does a solid job off repeating his mechanics with good extension to home plate. Overall Brown is a physical athlete that understands his strength and pounds the strike zone with his fastball.
This was expected to be a small class for Little Rock, as Coach Curry and his staff enter their second season. The 2015 class was large due to the staff transition along with inheriting a roster with double digits seniors. The 2015 class was a solid mix of high school players and junior college players. It appears Brown will fit in the well with foundation of the first recruiting class that featured four Arkansas High School players.
