The top-ranked arm in Wisconsin’s 2021 class was highly effective in his three innings of work against Building Champions on Sunday, in which he K’d four without allowing a hit. The Arkansas commit was effectively wild within the strike zone, sitting exclusively 91-94 mph in his three innings. The fastball featured trademark hard, late action that jumped through the zone that his opposition failed to truly square up. He also mixed in a 75-78 mph curve with above-average 11/5 action that sharpened as his outing went on. The confidence Trapani displays for it is notable, as he frequently goes to the pitch no matter the count or handedness of the batter. The changeup is firm in the 83-84 mph range with sink-type movement, and he only threw a handful on Sunday. Still, with three solid offerings in a stout/strong 6-foot-1, 215-pound build, Trapani has a true starter’s profile with the ability to throw enough strikes to help make the transition to the SEC easier.

Vincent Trapani got the start for GRB Rays against a competitive Top Tier Americans lineup. Trapani is a strong/athletic 6-foot-1, 215-pound, Arkansas commit. He works with a high front side creates some deception and pitches of one of the firmest fastballs in the Midwest. Trapani was around the zone all game long with his fastball that sat comfortably at 90-92 mph, touching 93. Trapani also showed the makings of a three-pitch mix with a curveball at 75-76 mph that is thrown aggressively and has late depth.

Large framed, strong bodied righty with a shoulder tilt delivery that produced steep downhill plane. Some wrist curl funk on the backside, but hides the ball well for added deception. Very consistent release point on all three pitches. Worked an easy 14-pitch inning, dominating the three hitters he faced. Fastball sat 90-91, working up to 92 mph with a peak spin rate of 2,182 and great carry. Averaged an event best of 20 inches of induced vertical break. Threw two low-spin, flatter curveballs at 73-74 mph and one 81 mph changeup.

Slight wrap on back side, quick and clean arm out front, high ¾ slot, easy effort throughout. Fastball had run, late life in the zone, 85-88 mph. Curveball, 11/5 sharp break, sat 72-73 mph. 6-foot-1, 195-pound right-handed pitcher with a lanky frame and present strength. Trapani came on the PBR radar last spring at the Madison Educational Showcase when he topped out at 85 mph with his fastball. At the time Trapani was extremely raw and more of a thrower than a pitcher. At the event he showed the strides he has made with his mechanics and body control. Trapani worked at an easy 86-88 mph with his fastball. He has a long, loose arm action and gets extension out front. Slow paced delivery with good explosion in the core, works in line with home plate. He also made strides with his offspeed pitches, especially his curveball. Maintains arm speed better with his curveball at 70-72 mph with 12-6 shape and short breaking action. Changeup sat 72-73 mph. Trapani established himself as the top prospect in the 2021 Wisconsin Class.
