Wisconsin’s Class of 2021 Rankings are live, the third time we’ve updated the class’ rankings. This time, there’s been a significant amount of movement up and down the rankings, including the top 10. We’ve expanded our rankings to a top 60 and the top 10 alone gains three new names.

There’s a lot to dissect here, so let’s break it down.

Noah Miller (Ozaukee, 2021) solidified himself at the top of the 2021 class. Miller showed improved numbers across the board, and his bat-to-ball skills are about as good as it gets in the class. On top of that, he’s a slick fielding shortstop that will stick there at the next level, and will potentially see his name rise in the overall rankings as well.

Left-handed-hitting catcher Joey Spence (West Bend East) comes in at No. 2. His left-handed bat is compact and powerful and it’s off to an incredibly hot start this spring. Spence went deep in his first varsity game and already has two homers on the season. In the Suns’ first six games, Spence is a whopping 14-for-18 with 19 RBI.

RHP Drew Stippich (Kettle Moraine) just missed our rankings back in December, and he’s made some remarkable gains since. Last year Stippich was a clean quick armed righty who sat 79-81 mph with a lot of projection. This winter, Stippich sat an easy 87-88 mph with advanced secondary offerings. Stippich moves from unranked to the No. 4 spot in the state.

It’s difficult to crack the top 10, but from outside the top 30, it’s a monumental move to break into that top group. For Logan Schulfer (Stevens Point), his 25-spot climb to No. 5 in the state’s 2021 class is enormous and it was made possible by his excellent bullpen last February in Appleton, where he hit 89 mph multiple times. But Schulfer isn’t only about velocity. The Stevens Point right-hander has an athletic 6-foot frame, with an especially strong lower half. He backs up his live fastball with an aggressive slider, thrown in the 81-83 mph range. His firm changeup is more than a change-of-pace pitch, too.

Up a couple of spots from No. 10 to 8 is the switch-hitting center fielder from Brookfield East, Q Phillips. He’s a premium defender with natural instincts for the game and a well-rounded set of tools. He’s a sub-7.00 runner who looks comfortable in both batter’s boxes and is able to chase down fly balls with confident routes. He came away from the West Milwaukee Preseason I.D. event as the top-ranked sophomore position player in attendance and has a considerable ceiling, fit for the next level.

Up a spot, and making his top-10 debut, is La Crosse Aquinas’ Jared Everson. The first baseman is a highly projectable left-handed bat and creates a natural lift off the barrel. His 6-foot-3, 185-pound frame helps project for added power, considering he’s already shown an ability to fill the gaps up as an underclassman.
