PBR Wisconsin Staff

As we approach the end of 2021, we're taking account of the PBR Illinois player profile pages to determine the players in our backyard whose profiles earned the most attention throughout the year. We're counting down the top-10 profiles in the state that received the most views, from No. 10 and on, concluding our countdown on New Year's Day by revealing the most-viewed profile of the year.

Coming in at No. 6 is RHP Vincent Trapani (Eau Claire Memorial, 2021; Arkansas), who was the top pitcher in the state and also gained national attention for his skills, as he was ranked No. 242 overall nationally. Trapani's inherent arm strength produces 95 mph highs, and the pitch really carries throughout the zone, making the most of its velocity. These traits, coupled with his unique arm action, makes Trapani an intimidating at-bat. This was in full effect during Trapani’s senior season, as he was an ace for the Old Abes, a team that made it all the way to Appleton for the WIAA state championship playoffs. Being a top arm in the state and ranked nationally as Trapani was, it is nor surprise that he was our sixth overall most viewed profile overall on our board.

NO. 6: VINCENT TRAPANI

Scouting Report

9/13/20

The top-ranked arm in Wisconsin’s 2021 class was highly effective in his three innings of work against Building Champions on Sunday, in which he K’d four without allowing a hit. The Arkansas commit was effectively wild within the strike zone, sitting exclusively 91-94 mph in his three innings. The fastball featured trademark hard, late action that jumped through the zone that his opposition failed to truly square up. He also mixed in a 75-78 mph curve with above-average 11/5 action that sharpened as his outing went on. The confidence Trapani displays for it is notable, as he frequently goes to the pitch no matter the count or handedness of the batter. The changeup is firm in the 83-84 mph range with sink-type movement, and he only threw a handful on Sunday. Still, with three solid offerings in a stout/strong 6-foot-1, 215-pound build, Trapani has a true starter’s profile with the ability to throw enough strikes to help make the transition to the SEC easier.
