Oregon State transfer Jack Washburn attacked with a 89-91 fastball from a high release point and slightly across body landing. The pitch showed a good vertical attack angle when down in the zone. The righty mixed in an average 82-84 mph changeup and same grade 83 mph slider.

7/10/18 - Oregon State University commit. 6-foot-2, 198-pound, strong, wide-shouldered, defined lower half, two-way player; has put on over 30 pounds of muscle since the 2017 summer. One of the top arms in the state of Wisconsin. Was extremely efficient in his outing, retiring all five hitters that he faced. Methodical, controlled delivery, works on-line, slight open-toe finish. Arm action is highly-athletic; full, clean arm circle on the backside, quick out front, comes out of a high ¾ slot. Fastball works mostly straight, around the zone, 87-89 mph. Breaking ball, thrown with fastball arm speed, intent, late, sharp 11/5 action, 79-81 mph. Also, hit at the event. Right-handed hitter, balanced setup, smooth loading action, toe-tap stride and average balance throughout. Strong hands, creates leverage, uphill bat path and flashed pull power. 93 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran a 7.0 laser-timed 60.

7/5/18 - Oregon State commit. 6-foot-2, 180-pound right-handed pitcher, strong athletic frame. Fastball worked at 88-89 mph, touched 90 mph, command was erratic but stuff was live in the hitting zone. Curveball showed plus action 78-81 mph, tight sharp action.

10.19.17 - Verbally committed to Oregon State.

2017 PBR Future Games - 6-foot-1, 165-pound right-handed pitcher, projectable athletic frame, lean and long limbed, large hands and feet. Competitor on the mound, shows a ton of confidence and moxy. Forward rocker step out of the windup to loose athletic leg kick and squared landing, solid front side. Arm action is long and loose, high ¾ slot. Gets tilt on fastball shows life and finish, touched 90 mph occasionally in second outing, sat 85-88 mph. Slider showed plus action, thrown aggressively 74-77 mph, hard bite and depth. High follow 2019 prospect with high ceiling.  

3/12/17 - Highly projectable frame at 6-foot-1, 165-pound right-handed hitting RHP/OF. Lanky, athletic frame with wide shoulders. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a loose, quick arm action. Tall and fall delivery with regular effort. Athletic finish with a square landing, works in line with home plate. Fastball was straight at 85-86, topping out at 87 mph on his final pitch. Curveball has tight rotation with 12-6 shape and late breaking action at 74-76 mph, has the makings of a plus offering. Changeup is thrown aggressively with fastball arm speed and showed slight running action at 78-80 mph. One of the top arms in the Wisconsin 2019 class, has bloodlines as dad, Jarrod pitched in the big leagues for 12 seasons. Arm strength carries over to the outfield. Threw 91 mph from the outfield in drills, throws showed carry. Plays thru the ball with fluid footwork and athletic actions. At the plate hits from a wide base with a heel lift stride and average balance. Long swing path with fluid rhythm. Showed strength thru contact with 87 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.23.

10/9/16 - Pitched exclusively out of the stretch in his outing, which featured interesting upside. The son of former Major Leaguer Jared Washburn, Jack utilized a deliberate leg lift that gave way to a quick arm which produced an 83-86 fastball that jumped on hitters.  His slider, 73-75, was a legitimate out-pitch when at its best with tight spin, and wipe out qualities allowing Washburn to strike out eight over four innings.
