5.24.17: Hits from the left side, elite bat speed, level swing working uphill with a primarily pull approach, can use the entire field. Quiet swing, ready to hit at next level. At short, smooth actions, plays with a good rhythm, soft hands and works through the ball well. Plenty of arm strength and a clean arm action.

9.29.16 - Virginia commit. High ceiling athlete with ton of projection and will be one to keep an eye on in June. Simple set up at the plate with free hands that get direct to the baseball. Creates fast bat speed with a smooth swing. Nice balance throughout. Smooth actions in the field. May project to a corner infield spot as he fills frame. Longer, loose arm action with carry on throws.  Ran a 7.08 60-yard dash.

8.9.16 (Area Code Games) - SS Tanner Morris (Miller School, VA) was undeterred by Greene’s fastball, squaring up 96 for a single through the left side. He also had a sacrifice fly on Sunday.

7.16.16 -  Morris went with a pitch and squared it up between the shortstop and third baseman.

5.22.16:  Hits from a balanced, athletic stance that is slightly crouched. Slight load back with a toe to heel stride that stays on line and controlled. Explosive drive to the ball that maintains balance. Bat exit velocity of 89 MPH with wood. Advanced approach to the round.  Short, level swing path that stays through the ball. Line drive hitter with gap power.  Advanced hitter with hands that can spray the ball around the park. Throws from a three-quarters arm slot. Arm has life. Positional velocity of 88 MPH. Soft hands with quick, fluid footwork that plays through the ball. Athletic defender.

10.24.15 - 2017 MIF Tanner Morris (St. Anne’s Bellfield HS, VA) delivered the decisive blow during Team Evoshield’s 5-0 win over Elite Squad Louisville Slugger (not to be confused with Elite Squad Prime). With Team Evoshield leading 1-0, the athletically built 6-foot-2, 165-pound left-handed hitting Virginia recruit ripped a grand slam in the sixth inning to secure the victory. Morris has a balanced, level swing and should continue to add weight to his projectable frame. He also showed soft hands at second base, though he can play shortstop and third base as well.

4/5/19:Sure-handed middle infielder who also sets the tone at the top of the lineup for the Cavaliers. Morris is a disciplined hitter with a very good knowledge of the strike zone and excellent hand/eye. Currently, he has more career walks (52) than strikeouts (48) and less than a 13% strikeout rate this season with a 41% extra base hit percentage...a very rare and valuable combination. He's short to the ball with good strength. Goes palm up early to get on-plane. Showed above average raw power to his pull side during batting practice. His hand load is down, but he stays behind the ball, stays connected and uses his hips really well. Average bat speed in batting practice, more slider speed in the game while using all fields. Slow out of the box, running a 4.48 down the line from the left side on a ground ball to second base. As a draft-eligible sophomore with Day Two talent, his signability will largely determine how high he is selected. Profiles at the professional level as an offensive-minded second baseman with steady defense. (Seifert)

8/15/18:Led Harwich offensively with a .331/.404/.449 slash in 156 plate appearances after batting .298 with just 29 strikeouts in 241 plate appearances as a true freshman this past spring at UVA. Standing six-foot-two, 185 pounds, Morris does not ooze tools, but has high level baseball skills and instincts. Below average runner down the line; 4.55, 4.59 and 4.61 on groundouts. Slow out of the box due to his spread stance and hit approach with more of a lumbering stride and fair acceleration. Showed bat strength at the plate with a rotational, uphill swing. Some stiffness due to very little rhythm; toe lift with minimal hand load. However, he does have an excellent knack for finding the barrel and putting the ball into play. Steady defender. Made all the routine plays on defense with average range. Also showed an above average arm, throwing from a higher slot than typical of an infielder. What Morris lacks in tools, he makes up with instincts and skills to perform and play the game. (Seifert)
