4/11/17 6-foot-1, 185-pound LHP worked out of low 3/4 arm slot with FB sitting 84-86. Okuda demonstrated ability to cut fastball with command in both directions.  CB displayed 2/8 sweeping shape and was thrown at 72-73.  Changeup was thrown with FB arm speed and sat 75 with considerable arm side fade.  Showed advanced pitchability with command of both sides of zone while also changing eye levels.  Arm action is long and loose.  Delivery is low effort and repeatable.  Virginia Tech recruit.

2/22/15 6-foot-1, 165-pound southpaw with skinny, projectable frame. Delivery doesn’t require much effort. Loose arm from low-¾ to ¾ arm slot. Lands closed creating some deception to his delivery. Fastball comes out at an easy 79-80 mph with arm-side run. Breaking ball shows good across the zone action at 64 mph. Changeup is thrown with good arm speed at 69-71 mph with similar run to his fastball. Definite follow.
9/14/14 Okuda was down a tick from his velocity of the previous week of the fall program, but still showed the fluid delivery, command and feel for three pitches that make him a high follow in this class. The sophomore worked three scoreless innings sitting 77-78 from a 3/4 arm slot. He struck out two and caused a number of hitters to look uncomfortable. Okuda showed an advanced feel for his 71 mph changeup and solid command of his 68 mph curveball. At 6-foot-1, 145-pounds, Okuda is likely to see significant velocity gains moving forward.
9/7/14 Okuda impressed with a feel for a three pitch mix and good mound presence. The 6-foot-1, 145-pound sophomore sat 79-81 from a 3/4 arm slot with some arm side run to his fastball as well as the ability to cut it on occasion. Okuda also flashed a 68 mph curveball with 1/7 rotation and an above average changeup with arm side fade at 71 mph. The left-handed hitter went 4-for-7 in game action while barreling the baseball consistently from a square stance with a high hands load. Okuda should continue to see considerable velocity gains as his long, lean frame develops.
