The 2nd Annual Fall College Prospect Program moved to La Roche College for Week Two action on September 14. The fall format involves two nine inning games and a showcase at each of three stops over the course of the month of September. Today we complete our analysis of the prospects in attendance during Week Two of the program by taking a look at the primary pitchers in attendance.

2015 RHP Colin Claus (West Allegheny)

Claus has been down in velocity most of the summer and fall from his peak when he sat 85-86 late in the spring, but continues to be extremely effective. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound righty sat 80-81 from a 3/4 arm slot with solid command of three pitches. Claus struck out five using his 71 mph slider and an occasional 73 mph changeup to keep hitters off balance. Claus allowed one run on two hits and showed command of all four quadrants of the plate. Two days following the completion of his outing Claus announced his commitment to play his college baseball at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP).

2017 LHP Ryan Okuda (Pine-Richland)

Okuda was down a tick from his velocity of the previous week of the fall program, but still showed the fluid delivery, command and feel for three pitches that make him a high follow in this class. The sophomore worked three scoreless innings sitting 77-78 from a 3/4 arm slot. He struck out two and caused a number of hitters to look uncomfortable. Okuda showed an advanced feel for his 71 mph changeup and solid command of his 68 mph curveball. At 6-foot-1, 145-pounds, Okuda is likely to see significant velocity gains moving forward.

2016 RHP Cameron Coco (Central Catholic)

Coco sat 80-82 with some cut action to his fastball from a 3/4 arm slot. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound junior has projectable size and additional velocity spikes are likely. Coco also commanded a 69 mph slider that has considerable break but tends to stay flat through the zone. The righty worked three innings allowing one run on four hits while striking out one.

2016 RHP Jacob Kinsell (Carmichaels)

Kinsell sat 75-77 from a high 3/4arm slot with some cut action to his fastball over three innings of scoreless work. The 6-foot, 170-pound junior also commanded a 62 mph curveball with 11/5 rotation and a solid 69 mph changeup thrown frequently and at fastball arm speed. Kinsell mixed pitches well and got ahead of hitters. His changeup was very effective leading to six strikeouts and three ground ball outs.

2015 RHP Max Lane (Clarion Area)

Lane sat 78-80 from a high 3/4 arm slot with a quick arm action. The 5-foot-9, 145-pound uncommitted senior also utilized a 66 mph curveball with 11/5 rotation to get outs. Following an inning that saw him allow three hits Lane bounced back to face the minimum through his final two innings striking out two.

2017 RHP Neal McDermott (Greensburg Central Catholic)

McDermott was a model of efficiency working three innings and facing the minimum while striking out five. The 6-foot, 165-pound sophomore sat 77-78 from a high 3/4 arm slot mixing in the occasional 70 mph curveball with 11/5 rotation. McDermott has a simple delivery with repeatable mechanics and works quickly while pounding the strike zone.

2017 RHP Christian Milletary (West Allegheny)

Milletary sat 73-75 from a high 3/4 arm slot with a high knee delivery that produces some deception. The 5-foot-11, 150-pound sophomore allowed one run on three hits over three innings of work while registering two strikeouts. Milletary also showed an occasional curveball at 61 mph in his mix. The righty is long limbed and appears to have substantial growth and velocity still ahead of him. He has added 10 mph to his fastball over the past two years.

2017 RHP/3B Tristen Zimmer (Chartiers Valley)

Zimmer is a 6-foot-1, 185-pound two-way prospect that sat 75-76 from a high 3/4 arm slot during three innings of work on the mound. The sophomore also displayed a 63 mph curveball. Zimmer is a right-handed hitter that starts from a square stance. He showcased a flat bat path and the ability to square the baseball frequently during his round of batting practice with a bat exit velocity of 74 mph. Zimmer showcased developing skills at 3B with an accurate 70 mph arm across the diamond.
