Cape Cod: Ziehl showed the ability to miss bats as a true freshman working in a setup role for Miami, fanning 52 in 35.2 IP. He was dominant this summer for Harwich, posting a 2.34 ERA and a 31-6 K-BB mark in 23 innings over seven appearances (three starts). Despite his bullpen success, Ziehl has a legitimate shot to thrive in a starting role as his collegiate career continues, because he has advanced feel for pitching with a quality three-pitch mix. He locates to both sides of the plate with a fastball that sits around 92, but he can reach back for 94-95 mph when he needs it. Ziehl also can land his putaway slider and his changeup for strikes and get empty swings with his slider in the strike zone. Like Conover, he's a bulldog who works fast and doesn't get fazed in tight spots.
