Miller stands 5-foot-9, 160-pounds with an extremely athletic build. At the plate, very relaxed setup with wide stance, smooth back load and slight stride for timing. Compact to the ball, barrel path is mostly level through contact, easy bat-speed (up to 87 mph off a tee) with gap-to-gap ability. At the corner, wide base, gets himself in proper fielding position, fields out in front with open glove, clean funnel, shuffles towards target with 79 mph arm across the diamond (up to 80 back in July) releases from a mid-3/4 slot. He also works out from OF showing off his athleticism (ran a 6.79 60-yard dash, very good looking prospect to keep a close eye on.
Campus Series-Marist (July 25, 2017)
Strong frame at 5-foot-9 160 pounds. Offensively- Even setup with a short controlled load of the hands; gains ground on his stride staying back and aggressive with his lower half. Overall balance approach with a short path into the zone; two-handed finish with line drive results. Exit velocity peaked at 87 MPH, a 10 MPH improvement from June. Good presence in the box. Defensively- In the outfield, aggressive pursuit of the ball; quick step through instead of a crowhop. Infield like arm action with accuracy at 76 MPH. As an infielder he maintained his aggressive approach, working low to the ground with hands out in front. Stays active with his feet during his transfer, strong throws peaking at 80 MPH across the diamond. Another huge uptick. Versatile, all-around athlete.
NYS Games - June 25-27, 2017
Athletic 5-foot-9, 160-pound outfielder, ran a 6.84/60. Defensively - agile footwork, soft hands, confident body language, smooth and easy transfer with an accurate arm from the outfield at 76 MPH; took infield and looked equally poised, economic footwork, previously registered exit velocity off tee at 77 MPH, intriguing potential.
Diamond Pro Workout (January 14, 2017)
Miller stands at an athletic 5-foot-9, 160 pounds. Was clocked at an above average 4.0 seconds from home to first base. Offensively- Sets up with feet shoulder width apart and front foot open. Hands are at shoulder height and bat is laid flat on shoulder with a quick lift of the barrel. Uses a leg kick that gets front foot back to even to get swing started. Foot lands late with weight shift forward to create his power. Hands pull tight to body through swing and extension is minimal. Middle of the field line drive results. Had an exit velocity of 77 MPH on the tee. Defensively- In the outfield, fields ball outside his body with his right foot forward. Takes time to gain ground with feet on throws back to infield. Throws were measured at 73 MPH from a low ¾ slingshot release. As an infielder, approaches ball with short, choppy steps. Wide base with right knee cracked in. Fields ball back under his body and funnels hands to stomach after catch. Uses a right over left crossover step get throwing started. Throws were 70 MPH across the infield. Pitching- Sets up with feet shoulder width apart, legs straight, and hands in front of chest. Small side step to the left as right foot pivots to mound. Front knee raises to just above waist at balance point. Long stride that lands in line with home plate. Arm circle goes slightly towards 1B on back side. Quick arm action forward at a low ¾ slot. Hand extends fully through pitch towards home plate. Fastball sat in the 73-74 MPH range. Also threw a changeup at 65-66 MPH, and kept same arm speed as fastball to create deception.
