Currently ranked No. 24 in Minnesota’s 2020 class. Hurth showcased short and loose arm action from a high 3/4 window, as well as quick arm speed. He has the arsenal and present stuff to play at the next level as he is difficult to square up. However he still has to work on his ability to locate, as evidence by five walks in six+ innings. His fastball ran all the way up to 89 mph early on before settling into 84-86 mph. He threw three other pitches, showing a sharp curveball with 11/5 shape and depth at 72-75 mph, a slider with sweeping action at 77-79 mph, and a cutter at 83-86 mph. He also took a no-hitter into the seventh inning.

Fastball was 83-86 mph, heavy ball, with cutting action to plate. Solid 11/5 shape on breaking ball with avg. depth. Slider has sharp late break for strikes and is a swing and miss pitch.

Flat swing plane and lower half gets through swing well. Mid/pull approach with line drive and fly ball contact. Flashed some strength in barrel with pull pop. 92 mph exit velocity. IF- Aggressive. Average feet to field. Solid glove and fields through ball. Quick release on throws. 86 mph arm strength with above average carry and average accuracy. On mound- Good mound presence. Quick tempo delivery and some effort to release. Lands and throws across body. Arm is short and quick. Fastball is straight and sits 84-86 mph topping at 87 mph. Curveball has 11/5 late break with good shape and spin at 68-72 mph. Change-up is straight at 76-79 mph.

6-foot-2, 175-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. The ball seemed to come right from Hurth’s ear as he pumped fastballs through the zone at 83-85. Stepping well across his body, Hurth released out of a high slot with a short, strong arm. He shows more intent than effort out front, and his hand works quickly through the ball. He featured a split-finger type changeup at 76-78 and an interesting breaking ball (70-72) that he threw with fastball hand speed and had shorter break. At 6-foot-2, 182-pounds, he shows some developing strength throughout, and should continue filling out in the future. On the field; Hurth ran a 7.4 60, posted a 88 mph exit velocity, and was 84 mph across infield. Rolling hand load into longer stride, creates bat speed, stiffer finish through contact, shows solid pop to pull side of field, active feet, works through ball, plays uptempo in field, hands are slightly stiff but sure, shows ability to make plays, with accuracy and carry to bag on throws.

On mound; backwards step rolling into high leg kick balance point, compact arm action, clean out front, flashing above avg. hand speed. Fastball was 82-84 mph, delivered on slight downhill plane, with flashes of life. Wraps curveball early, shows late break, 11/5 spin, and throws with conviction. Changeup is overly hard right now; but has arm action and feel on mound to be able to develop pitch.
