The 2019 MN Club League Scout Blog provides insider information, videos and scouting notes collected by the PBR MN Scouting Staff through this falls game action. This running blog will feature information on underclass prospects, unsigned seniors, draft prospects, and anything else that is notable. We will provide a wide range of information, including player evaluations, videos, velocities, pop times, home to first times, and more. The MN Club League is designed by and for participating organizations to add value to their players and families by providing competitive and collaborative baseball experiences during the fall months.  Participating organizations are required to provide a standard of consistent competition. This will enhance the experience and  increase exposure for all participating players. 

Participating in the 2019 season are a collection of top club teams within the state of Minnesota. They are:

MN MASH, GREAT LAKES ACADEMY, STARTERS ACADEMY, NORTHSTAR, CATCHFIRE, MN ICEMEN, NEVERS-LARKIN, TAKE THE FIELD, ROCHESTER PINES, LIVING LEGENDS, MN AUGERS, MN SWING KINGS, PINE TAR ACADEMY, EARL SPORTS CO., SANDPIPER BASEBALL, MN NICE and ADG ACADEMY.

WEEK 5 10/6/19

16U DIVISION

+ '22 Sean Doggett for Icemen continued to has a nice Fall.  The right-handed hitting infielder show pop in barrel with a couple well hit balls.  Middle approach and displays bat speed with solid contact.

+ '22 Asher Giese a RHP/OF for Starters popped a home run to left center and added a couple RBIs.  Balanced to start and through swing.  Mid/pull approach with strength in the barrel and bat speed.

+ '22 1B/LHP Tomas Lee who had a nice day at the plate for Starters.  Compact body that uses the middle of the field.  Showed opposite field pop with a double and triple on the day.

+ '22 Michael Gabbard a C/INF for Starters.  Smaller frame and balanced stance.  Consistent swing with solid contact that flashed pull side pop.  He tallied a triple and single with 3 RBI in their game.  

+ '22 Michael Rivera started on the mound for Starters.  The RHP fastball sat 79-81 mph and a curveball at 67-68 mph with 11/5 break.  Showed a change-up with sinking action.  Average frame that throws from a high 3/4 arm slot.

18U DIVISION 

+ '20 Joey Hurth continued his nice Fall for the Mash.  The RHP/3B started on the mound and did his part throwing strikes and locating well with two pitches.  He also added a couple hits showing some pop to all fields.

 

 

+ '20 Aidan Byrne for Mash had a solid day at the plate.  The right-handed hitting short-stop showed a gap to gap approach and had a couple of triples.  An average frame that will fill out and be a nice get at the next level.

 

 

+ ' 20 Great Lakes LHP Jon Horn took the mound.  The lefty come from a 3/4 arm slot and a fastball that sat 78-79 mph.  Curveball was 68-69 and used well on both sides of the plate.  

+ '21 Mash LHP/OF Carter Hendrickson threw in their game.  Athletic frame and live arm.  His fastball sat 79-81 mph topping at 82 mph. and curveball was 67-69 mph.  A strike throwing with a twp pitch mix. A 2019 Future Games Participant

+ '21 Carter Hanson an athletic 1B/LHP for Mash.  The left handed-hitter has a mid/pull approach and shows the ability to drive the ball.  A consistent swing with good contact that is a follow into Spring.

+ '21 Sam Malecha a middle INF for NLB delivered a walk off hit with the bases loaded so take the win.  A smaller frame that hits from the left side to go along with a easy swing.

+ '20 RHP Derek Lilledahl (Minnesota St commit) from Rochester Pines went 5 strong innings. He sat 82-84 mph locating fastballs well on both sides of the plate with a good two pitch mix. 

+ '21 Jackson Greenlun continued to hit this Fall for the Icemen.  The catcher shows a consistent swing and pop in the barrel.  Average size with some strength.  Arm plays well from behind the plate.  

+ '21 and 2019 Future Games Participant Kade Peloquin had an all around solid day for the Icemen.  A prototypical leadoff type bat that puts together tough at bats.  Uses the whole field well with a line drive swing.  Range defensively with a good first step.  He will  be a solid grab at the next level.  

+ '21 RHP Korey Dahlberg threw a solid game for Northstar.  Fastball was sitting 82-83 mph. Slider was at 69-71 mph with good break. Smaller frame, works quick, and fills up the strike zone. 

+ '21 Northstar Ben Meuser who is a long and lanky first baseman showed some tools with the bat.  A deep fly ball into a stiff wind.  Pop in the barrel and bat speed that generates some lift through the swing.

+ '21 Adam Stanton pitched for the Mash in their game.  The big body righty sat 80-82 mph topping at 83 mph with good sink. Arm works well from a 3/4 arm slot.

+ '21 Will Rogers (Arizona St commit) blasted a home run to left-center.  The Great Lakes catcher has a strong frame with a good base.  Shows rhythm in load and a gap to gap approach with pop



 

+ '20 RHP Blake Ritzer started for Great Lakes on the bump.  He went three strong innings giving up zero runs.  Located well down in the zone and on both sides of the plate. Helped his team advance to the championship game.

WEEK 3 9/22/19

16U DIVISION

+ '22 RHP Ben Weber took the ball for Great Lakes.  He went 4 innings striking out 8.  Fastball was 75-77 mph with late  run and sink at times.  Had a curveball that sat 65-66 mph with 11/5 break.

+ '22 Brendan Goldman a RHP/OF for Great Lakes had 3 hits and also pitched.  A projectable frame at 6-foot-2 175-pounds.  Fastball sat 73-75 mph with varying action and a 12/6 curveball at 62-64 mph.

+ '22 Great Lakes OF Griffin DiTeodoro had a nice day at the plate.  The left-handed hitter made consistent hard contact throughout his at bats.  An aggressive swing that looks to elevate the ball.  Had two hits as well as two line outs.

+ '22 LHP Kristofer Hokenson started on the mound for Northstar.  His fastball sat 79-80 mph topping at 82 mph with good arm side run.  Curveball had late and sharp break thrown at 65-67 mph.  

+ '22 SS/RHP Jackson Tessman had himself a nice overall day.  Tallied 3 hits and showing the ability to use the whole field.  Also, took threw on the mound with a two pitch mix.  Fastball was 74-76 mph topping at 78 mph.  Threw an effective curveball at 62-65 mph.  

+ '22 Josh Hatano another 2-way guy for Northstar.  He threw as well throwing two scoreless innings.  Fastball was 76-78 mph.  Throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a quick and clean arm action.  Added two hits as well.

+ '22 Weber Neels caught both games for Northstar.  Defensively is solid and show athleticism behind the plate.  Blocks well and arm carries.  In the box shows strength in barrel with gap to gap approach. 

+ '23 Parker Lewin a RHP/SS threw a couple innings and strinking out four for Pine Tar.  Shows some athleticism on the mound.  Fastball sat 74-76 mph and a 61-63 mph curveball.  A young frame that will continue to develop.

+ '22 Matt "Beek" Kitzman who is a big frame 1B/LHP for NLB.  At the plate shows an aggressive swing with a gap to gap approach and tallied 3 hits.  On the mound a loose arm showing some arm-side run and the ability to get swing and miss.  He had 7ks through 3 innings. Fastabll worked 76-78 mph and curveball was 64-66 mph.  

+ '22 Brock Zimmer a 2-way guy whp pitched for NLB.  His fastball was 71-74 mph topping at 75 mph.  In the box, has the ability to drive the ball.  A flat swing plane with a middle approach.

+ '22 C/OF Peter Johnson for NLB.  The 6-foot-3, left-handed hitter had a nice day at the plate.  An aggressive swing that looks to elevate.  A mid/pull approach that flashes pop in barrel.

+ '22 Icemen INF Kaden Weller had a handful of solid plate appearances on the day. Uses the middle of field with consistent barrel contact.  Flatter swing plane with ground ball and line drive contact.

+ '22 Zach White for Icemen had a nice day at the plate.  Compact frame with more strength to come.  Middle approach that uses the whole field with line drive contact.

+ '22 Sean Doggett and athletic INF for Icemen.  Tall upright and open stance that looks to drive the baseball.  Consistent and solid contact.  Middle approach with line drive contact.

+ '23 Willy Coborn and OF for the MN Augers was on of the standouts on the day.  A thin frame that will continue to grow.  Rhythm at the plate with a leg lift trigger.  A consistent and short to contact swing.  Uses the whole field with line drive contact.

+ '22 Pierce Gritzmaker RHP/OF continues to have a nice Fall League for the Sandpipers.  The left-handed bat has good size and frame.  A slightly uphill swing that flashes pop with a double to right center.  Mid/pull approach and looks to drive the ball

+ '22 3B Brock Lerfald had himself a nice day for the Swing Kings.  A smaller frame and consistently a tough out.  Contact type hitter with a consistent barrel.  Uses the whole field well with line drive contact.  

+ '22 OF/SS Nate Hammerback for Swing Kings is a developing bat.  Mid/pull approach that flashes pop in barrel.  Aggressive swing with solid contact.  Has the ability to play multiple positions.

+ '22 Rochester Pines Joe Sperry and bigger frame 1B led the way offensively.  Good glove and moves well around the bag.  Put together consistent at bats and shows pull pop.  

+ '21 Austin Klug a RHP threw for the Rochester Pines.  A long and lanky frame that comes from a high 3/4 arm slot.  Fastball sat 77-79 mph and a curveball with 11/5 break at 65-66 mph.  He went 4 innings striking out 5.

 

18U DIVISION

+ '21 Austin Bergum and athletic INF for Icemen.  A lanky frame that shows strength in swing with pull pop.  Aggressive swing with consistent barrel.  

+ '20 1B Anton Rice had another solid weekend for Great Lakes.  Continues to put together good at bats.  Consistent hard contact and flashes strength in barrel.  Moves well around the bag and makes routine plays.  

+ '20 Brett Bateman (Minnesota Commit) started on the mound for Great Lakes.  The lefty sat 82-85 mph topping at 86 mph.  Struggled with command early and then settled in nicely pounding the strike zone with a two pitch mix.  



 

+ '20 OF Tyson Fredkove helped provide some offense for Great Lakes.  An athletic build and shows tools on both sides of the ball.  An arm with carry from the outfield and in the box shows line drive contact with strength in the barrel.  


 


WEEK 2 9/15/19

16U DIVISION

‘22 RHP Zach Dohrmann started game 1 for Mash.  Fastball sat 77-79 mph T80 mph early. Long and lanky frame with long arm action. Added strength will help with development and a potential arm to follow.  He was up to 82 mph at Club League Showcase.


+ '22 Kyle Hrncir who started at short for Mash and then came to pitch had a solid day.  Sat 80-82 mph T83 mph. A short arm action from a higher 3/4 arm slot.  In the box showed a middle approach with line drive contact.  Bigger frame with present strength.

 

+ '22 Mash RHP Cooper Smith who also pitched.  A smaller frame with a clean and loose arm action.  Fastball is sneaky with some life at 78-80 mph T81 mph.  Consistent strikes with slight sinking action.

+ '22 starting short stop Jack Lewin for Pine Tar is a good young player.  Middle approach with line drive contact and consistent barrel.  Shows average hands defensively and makes routine plays.  

 

18U DIVISION

+ '21 OF Kade Peloquin had a all around solid day for the Icemen.  The 2019 Future Games Participant is a typical lead off type hitter.  Speed to go with consistent contact,  Has ability to drive the ball.  Good range defensively with an arm that carries.

 

+ '21 Jackson Greenlun a catcher for Icemen showed some tools in both games.  Arm has good carry from behind the plate.  An aggressive swing in the box and has ability to drive the ball with pop. 

+ '20 Icemen INF Alexander Stephens (Dickinson St Commit) who moved around the infield playing multiple positions.  Strong frame with strength in barrel.  Gap to gap approach that looks to elevate the ball.

+ '20 Davis Grismer who started in CF for Pine Tar.  A projectable frame that looks to still be growing.  One of the top performers on Showcase Day.  Arm has carry from OF and has a developing bat that is a follow into Spring.  

 

 

+ '21 AJ McMahon C for Take the Field.  Very athletic, flashes bat speed with solid contact. Pull approach and line drive contact. Shows arm and instincts behind plate

 

+ '20 Great Lakes 3B Chris Jacobs had a couple of doubles in their game.  A mid/pull approach that has strength in barrel to pull side.  Consistent barrel with line drive contact.  Average actions and average carry on arm.

+ '20 1B Nathan Brennan for Great Lakes is a big body kid that will keep growing.  Consistently squares up the ball with power potential. Can play both corner positions  with average glove.

+ '20 Great Lakes Blake Gulden LHP Tall lanky frame, with room to grow, Fastball sat 77-79 mph from an over top slot arm slot. Curveball 65-66 mph with 2/8 break.

 

+ '20 Jacob Contreras who started at 1B for Living Legends.  A big body with a strong swing and mid/pull approach.  Shows barrel control with pop and uses a middle approach.  Defensively makes routine plays and an accurate arm with carry.

+20 John Klein RHP for Living Legends. Athletic body, clean and loose arm action. Fastball is 85-88 mph, curveball was 71-72 mph with 10/4 break 


+ 20 RHP Peter Tveite started on the mound for Northstar.  Easy arm action from a 3/4 arm slot.  Fastball was 85-86 mph with late run, Curveball sits 70-71 mph with 11/5 break.  Consistently around the strike zone with 3 pitches and saw swing and miss at times.

 

 

+ '21 Sam Malec a RHP/SS for Great Lakes.  A thin frame with a loose arm from a lower 3/4 arm slot.  Fastball was 84-86 mph with run and sink. Curveball sat 65-67 mph with 10/4 break. A follow in the 2021 class

 

+ '21 Northstar OF Dillon Hanson had a good day.  An athletic type body with strength. Gap to gap approach with line drive and fly ball contact.  Shows some speed with instincts.  Range defensively and arm carries well.  

 

 

+ '20 1B Anton Rice for Great Lakes is a longer frame body.  Showed the ability to use the whole field in the box.  Consistent line drive contact and solid barrel contact throughout the day.

+ '20 RHP Carter Rost from Swing Kings shows off his athletic frame and quick arm action. Fastball has arm side run and sink at 82-83 mph. Breaking ball for strikes at 72-74 mph.

 

+ '20 Tanner Neu had a solid outing for the Swing Kings.  Showed command of three pitches.  Fastball was sitting 77-79 mph and tight breaking ball with 1/7 break.   Change-up has running action late.

+ '21 RHP Nicholas Argento for Pine Tar has a great frame on the mound.  Pitched 3 plus innings striking out five.  Fastball sat 81-83 mph and  T84 mph.  He also came up clutch at the plate with a couple of hits and 4 RBIs.  

 

+ '21 Danny McCoy got things going for NLB in the first with a 3-run bomb.  The athletically built OF also added another hit later in the game.  Mid/pull approach that looks to elevate and shows pop in barrel.

+ '21 LHP/OF Caideyn Ferrell started for NLB on the mound.  His fastball demonstrated good arm-side run.  Fastball sat 75-78 mph and topped at 79 mph.  Worked out of some jams with guys on base when he had to.

 

+ '21 Tayden Fredericks had 3 hits and a couple of RBIs for Mash.  The middle infielder showcased the ability to drive the ball and grind out a couple of at-bats.  Good defender with solid hand and makes routine plays.

+ '21 RHP/3B Jarod Cook was on base all day for Mash with 2 walks, 2 triples and a single.  Gap to gap approach with line drive and fly ball contact. He also pitched game 2 showing a heavy ball on his fastball that sat 77-79 mph.   

 

WEEK 1 9/8/19

16U DIVISION

+ '22 RHP Pierce Gritzmaker threw for the Sandpipers.   Loose arm and ball comes out easy . Throws from a high 3/4 slot, Fastball was 75-77 mph with late life. Curveball has 10/4 break at 65-66 mph and change-up has late action to it.  

 

+ '22 LHH Nolan Drossel played short for the Sandpipers.  A lead odd type hitter that will uses the whole field.  Uses speed and athleticism that had 4 stolen bases along with 3 runs scored.

 

+ '22 Sandpipers 3B Charlie Dean had a couple of hits in their game.  Tall and lanky frame with room to grow.  Flashes pop in barrel with mid/pull approach and line drive contact.

+ '22 Luke Wilts Starters 1B has a well balanced setup shows good barrel control.  Bigger frame that shows pop with the bat.  

+ '22 Brady Schroeder started at 3B for Starters.  Put together some good at bast with plate discipline.  Middle approach that shows some power.

 

18U DIVISION

+ '20 RHP Reese Ligtenberg had a nice outing in his start for Mash.  Good frame and long arm action.  Fastball ranging 82-84 mph with late run. Demonstrating the ability to throw Slider and Change-up in any count.  

 

+ '20 C Ty Gage provided some offense for Mash on a bases clearing double which was his second of the game.  Short compact swing with quick hands showing power to both gaps.

 

+ '21 Lincoln Berry an athletic Mash INF with some hard contact. Relaxed and balanced set up. Mid/pull approach with line drive contact 


+ '21 Tony Ingram INF from Great Lakes showed some power and had some great ABs including a ground rule double that led to the first run of the game

 

+ '21 OF/LHP Carter Hendrickson had a nice day for Mash.  The 2019 Future Games Participant is and athletic 2-way guy.   Line drive swing and uses the whole field well

 

+ 21 Great Lakes C Will Rogers ranked #381 overall in the PBR 2021 Rankings hit 3rd and started behind the plate.  Strong athletic frame that had a nice game defensively.  Moves well to block and shows strength in glove when receiving.  A flat swing plane with some bat speed and has pop pential at the plate.  

 

+ '20 CF Brett Bateman (Minnesota Commit) for Great Lakes made an impact on both sides of the ball.  Solid bat and ability to drive the ball with consistent contact.  Also, will lay a bunt down for a hit.  Good range defensively with a good first step.  

 

+ '20 LHH Isaac Mezzenga had a home run and double for Great Lakes.  Gap to Gap approach and show pop to the middle of the field with shot that went over the center field wall.

 

+ '20 Great Lakes 1B/OF Matt Moore had a nice day at the plate for Great Lakes.  Long and lanky frame with room to fill out.  Flat swing plane with some bat speed.  Gap to gap approach and showed pop in the barrel.

 

+ '21 Rochester Pines C Adam Marshall.  Frame has room to grow.  A balanced and simple setup that show a short swing to contact.    

+ '23 LHP Peyton Milene who started on the mound for Rochester Pines in their second game.  Fastball sat 76-78 mph and was up to 81 at their recent Scout Day. Will be a follow arm in ‘23 class

 

+ '20 Mash RHP Joey Hurth was solid in his outing.  Fastball sat mainly 84-86 mph and ran it up to 88-89 mph.  Throws with a short and quick arm action.  A follow arm in the MN '20 class.

 

+ '20 RHP Austin Greven started the first game for Mash.  A 2-pitch guy for consistent strikes.  A short and easy arm action who was up to 86 mph at the Club League Showcase.  Fastball has slight downhill tilt and can throw slider in any count.  A follow arm into Spring for 2020 class.
