SS Tyler Bell (Lincoln-Way East, 2024; Kentucky commit) was fresh off a standout performance at the inaugural PBR All-American Game. He hit leadoff and played shortstop for Sparks Jupiter. The switch-hitting shortstop took a majority of his at-bats from the right-side of the plate on Sunday and showed premium bat speed with the ability to manipulate the barrel. Despite recording just one hit on the day, Bell made for a professional look both in the box and at a premium defensive position.
Prep Baseball All-American Game: Starting in a slightly wide, open base, the natural switch-hitter utilizes a quiet, shoulder height pre-pitch load with a quick leg trigger. Short to the ball with a loose finish from both sides while creating loft with ease. Equally present bat-to-ball skills but boasts massive power potential from the left side. Plus bat speed with lean strength in the frame that continues to grow can allow Bell to carry a strong hit/power combo going forward. A true shortstop long-term with fluid actions in all directions and easy transfers. Plays confident and shows high, situational baseball IQ. Arm strength to make every play needed and can be accurate from multiple arm angles. 6.68 runner with a great first step and straight line speed. Showing the potential of a day one middle-infielder.
Prep Baseball All-American Game: MIF Tyler Bell (Lincoln-Way East HS, IL, 2024; Kentucky commit) is another all-around impressive athlete, and all of his tools scored higher than the All-American average. He boasts an impressive set of tools which rank in the 76th percentile, about 11% higher than the All-American average. His average bat speed of 77.8 mph helps him stand out and it is 22.9% better than his peers who played in the game. Bell’s Edge Score (81.88) and jump height (35.26 in.) each stand out above the average as well.
Quietly, the Kentucky commit was outstanding in multiple facets of the game throughout the week. Flashed 60 grade run times down the line (4.08) and jumped all over a first-pitch fastball for a pull-side grand slam. Switch-hitter, but Bell is more advanced from the left-side with ability to create leverage with ease and present bat speed. Soft hands with impressive footwork and range makes me believe that Bell will stick up the middle long term as well.
Bell is quickly solidifying himself as a name-to-know 2024 grad on a national scale, riding a red-hot spring to land himself on our first team all-state. The Pittsburgh commit was the catalyst for a Lincoln-Way East team that spent a large chunk of the season towards the top of our Illinois' Power 25, slashing .446/.577/.843 with nine doubles, six triples, and nine home runs. Bell drove in 46 runs and scored 54 times on his own, walking 36 times while also chipping in 32 stolen bases. He did all of that while also being an asset defensively, starting at shortstop for the Griffins and playing it at an advanced rate. Currently the No. 2 overall 2024 graduate in Illinois, and No. 69 nationally, Bell should draw plenty of professional interest throughout the summer circuit and into next spring.
Pittsburgh commit, currently ranked No. 2 in the Illinois’ 2024 class. Switch-hitting shortstop came into the game as a pinch hitter in the sixth inning due to Senior Day. Immediately made his presence felt with a clutch one-out double down the right-field line and he would later come around to score. He came up again in the bottom of the seventh and drove a pitch to center field which was deep enough for a walk-off sacrifice fly. Yet another quality look at one of the top juniors in the state.

Pitt commit. Currently ranked No. 4 in the state, No. 154 nationally. Projectable 6-foot-1, 180-pound frame, still has plenty of maturing to do physically. High-level defender up the middle with soft hands and athletic actions. Showcased ultra quick hands on transfers with and a clear overall feel for the position. The switch hitter showed similarly quick hands at the plate, seeing all of his at-bats from the right side. His swing is quick and direct to the ball, utilizing a fluid load and hanging his foot to stay on time before firing through the zone. He finished the day 1-for-2 with a double and two walks. High-level switch-hitting middle infielder that will certainly look to remain on the dirt moving forward.
