1/25/21

Strong bodied righty filled up the zone with three pitches, showed ability to work both sides of plate with heavy FB, comfortable feel for change up with sinking action.

Velocities
FB: 90-92
SL: 79-80
CH:79-81

10/15/17- South Florida recruit. Has continued to lean out. Stays over the back side well and creates tilt on the fastball. While it was down a tick at 88-91 mph there is still heavy life and will throw harder. Shows a short slider at 73 mph. Struck out one in his two innings. Velocity dropped some in the second inning, but there is a lot to like going forward.

06/16/17- Committed to the University of South Florida.

06/08/17 - Stewart has struggled at times to find the strike zone consistently at times, has a big frame with a strong lower half. During the tryout though, he was getting better extension and with less effort was throwing strikes with a 90-92 mph fastball, which is the best I've seen it. Also showed a quality curveball at 74-77 with decent shape and a feel for a changeup at 82-83 mph

05/20/17- Uncommitted, the strong, 6-foot-2, 200-pound RHP/1B Showed off some power in BP from gap to gap. Swings it like a good pitcher who has some power.  Front foot heavy that really works when he is on time.  Showed pull side power that could make him an intriguing two-way player at the next level.  On the mound, he throws from a high 3/4 slot, and with a strong front side and some effort he showed a quick arm and a fastball that sat 86-89 mph. He also showed a two-plane curveball at 71-74 mph with 11/5 shape. He still doesn’t quite get clear on the back side and as he learns to get full use from the lower half and continues to lean out the frame, he should make a nice jump both with velocity and command. Overall, will be a very interesting follow going into the summer.

04/27/17- Uncommitted 2018 RHP Justin Stewart, who has a big, strong frame and a strong lower half. Stewart would work mostly 87-90 with his fastball, that showed late life and created quite a few swings and misses. He also mixed in a 72-74 mph curveball that he would slow down and get around on at times. When he got extended and maintained his arm speed it showed quality shape. He would finish four innings, allowing one run on two hits while striking out five.

6/27/16- Uncommitted. The 6-foot-2, 200-pounder looks the part with a strong lower half, simple delivery and clean arm action. Stewart’s fastball ranged from 84-88 mph with heavy late life. He showed two breaking balls, a curveball at 66-68 mph and a slider at 75 mph. He is physical with a feel for pitching and room to grow which makes him an interesting follow going forward.
