FL JUCO Opening Weekend Scout Notes
January 25, 2021
If this weekend showed us anything, to put it frankly, Florida JUCO is loaded. There was so much talent across the two tournaments in Auburndale and Ft Myers that we could rightfully break down nearly every player on every team. The talent and physicality is unmatched in recent memory. You have some grown men playing in JUCO this year, and it shows.
Arms were the big winner early, as they often are. With the likes of guys like Dylan Ross, Shawn Guilliams, Marc Davis, Logan Adams, Andrew Baker, Cole Ayers, Luis Guerrero, amongst more than a dozen more that will be featured today, the radar guns and cameras were hard at work. By our count, we saw 20+ guys over 90 mph over three days.
With all of the power arms that threw, some of the state's top offensive players also showed up. Some big winners for me early were a trio of Freshmen in Matt Cedarburg, Tre Hondras and Austin Kelly as well as well known power bat Carter Cunningham. Cedarburg and Hondras homered twice, while Kelly and Cunningham homered once with multiple extra base hits. Another freshman standout was Hunter Fitz-Gerald who had multiple hits as well and a frame to dream on.
Again, we could go on and on, and while we did get a good look, it is the first weekend of the season. We look forward to continuing the coverage and updating the information on these guys and many more as we continue to get out and see games.
Make sure to log in to see over 40 standouts and notes on guys we will continue to follow.
