SS/RHP Cam Warren (2024) jumped out to us immediately at the PBR at The Hank and Preseason All-State events,, and all signs point to Warren having already improved over those few months. We had seen how impressive the freshman was during BP, defensive workout, etc., but hadn’t seen him much in gameplay. Hitting in the 5-hole for the talented Spartans, Warren did more than hold his own, he led the way offensively. Reaching on all four plate appearances, Warren singled three times and got hit-by-pitch in his last at-bat. Showed the ability to hit the ball where it is pitched, with all three base hits being in different spots of the field. Slotted in the designated hitter role, Warren flashes some ability with the glove on the infield at showcases, but didn’t get to see it here. Excellent day here for the freshman.

5-foot-10, 165-pound athletic frame. Projectable in the box, the right-handed hitter had an exit velocity of 88 mph. Started in an athletic active stance with a quick load, then used a leg kick. Had efficient bat speed and upward swing plane. Was able to create some loud contact and found lots of barrels. Gap to gap approach. In the infield, his position velocity was registered at 76 mph; showed a fluid exchange, consistent hands, and smooth feet. Used a high ¾ slot with a quick arm action while showing consistent accuracy to the base. Recorded a 60 time of 7.52 at the event. On the mound, threw his fastball 81-83 mph and topped out at 84 mph; showed running action and arm side command. He shows glove side command and late action on his 11/5 curveball (68-69). His changeup (72-73) had arm side control and fading action.

One of the younger players at the event but held his own, showing advanced athleticism and a very balanced swing. Stayed short with the swing and showed continued juice to the backside gap. Started from a slightly open stance and used a toe tap approach with some tilt in the swing path. Very natural, easy actions at SS that he made look easy. Effortless with the glove and the transfer is quick with accurate throws to 1B. There is some current arm strength that will continue to improve as he gets older. Nice looking ‘24 prospect.
