PBR Future Games Player Spotlight: 3B Cullen Horowicz

2019 marks the 8th year that Pennsylvania will be represented in the PBR Future Games. This one-of-a-kind event will feature the best uncommitted Class of 2021 & select 2022 prospects from our 40-plus state coverage area. The Future Games will take place July 31st - August 4th (Wednesday-Saturday) at the LakePoint Sporting Community in Cartersville, GA.
The Prep Baseball Report Future Games is the premier summer scouting event for Class of 2021/2022 prospects. Last year, more than 250 college coaches from all over the country were in attendance, making it arguably the most heavily recruited event of the summer.
We will be highlighting each player on the Team Pennsylvania roster in the week leading up to the event. Links to those players that have already been highlighted follows at the end of this article.

+ 2019 PBR Future Games Selection (Team Pennsylvania)
Defensively, the 6-foot-4, 215-pound athlete works from his feet up. He displayed soft, confident hands that work extremely well within his body. A event best, 88 mph velocity across the diamond was recorded. He moves his feet well and gets his momentum moving towards his target with relative ease.
Offensively, Horowicz initiates his swing from a neutral athletic position. He displayed good balance and physical strength with considerable power. His hands are loose and in rhythm with his body. A 91 mph exit velocity off the tee was recorded, up from 86 at his last event in November.
On the mound, the 6-foot-4, 215-pound primary Third Basemen works out of a high 3/4 slot. He shows overall good strength and the ability to create tilt towards his target. His delivery was low effort, repeatable, and displayed a FB that sat 84-86 mph with good action at the plate. His CB sat 72-73 mph to go along with a 77-78 mph CH. Overall, Horowicz athleticism and overall strength make him one of the top prospects in the 2021 Class in West Virginia.
Defensively, Horowicz displayed a solid glove and soft hands. He moves his feet well while gaining ground to throw towards his target. His transfer is smooth and displayed a 83 mph velocity across the infield.
Offensively, his athletic frame shows potential to continue to add mass and flexibility. He initiates his swing from a athletic, open stance. Horowicz displayed loose, free hands that created solid bat speed. A 85 mph exit velocity was registered.
On the mound, he works out of a high 3/4 slot. He shows good strength and the ability to create tilt towards his target. His delivery was repeatable and displayed a FB that sat 82-84 mph with good action at the plate. His CB sat 69-71 to go along with a 76-77 mph CH. Overall, Horowicz athleticism and arm strength make him a player to follow in the 2021 Class.
Defensively, glove hand is soft and confident while working bottom up and out front. Feet are active to and through the baseball. Transfer is clean and throwing motion has length. Horowicz showcased 79 mph arm strength on throws across the diamond.
Offensively, the 6-foot-4 190-pound, right-handed hitter initiates swing from open set up with short, controlled stride to neutral. Separation is solid. Weight shift and hip turn are aggressive. Swing path is slightly uphill. Hands are loose and work directly in achieving substantial barrel whip. An advanced for age 86 mph bat exit velocity was registered. Overall, Horowicz shows early signs of developing into a solid next level offensive player.
On the mound, works out of mid 3/4 arm slot. Arm action is long and loose while demonstrating solid downhill plane consistent with 6-foot-4 frame. Delivery is moderate effort and there was some difficulty repeating from the wind up on this day. Fastball sat 81-82 mph demonstrating consistent arm side run. Curveball at 69 flashed good depth, 11/5 shape and was commanded. Changeup at 75-76 was thrown with good sell and fade while being inconsistently commanded. Developing arm quickness, athleticism and frame make Horowicz an arm to follow in the Class of 2021.
