Game of the Day: Moorefield tops East Hardy in Nine Innings

Following seven innings of action that saw a total of four runs scored Moorefield and East Hardy combined to score five times in the 8th and 9th innings with the final tally coming on a walk-off single by Keaton Funk to lead Moorefield to a 5-4 win in Region II - Section 4 playoff action last night.

Moorefield scored one run in the 3rd and 5th innings sandwiched around two East Hard runs in the 4th but neither team could punch across a run in the final two frames setting up the dramatics in extra innings. East Hardy appeared to have the upper hand when they scored twice on a two-out triple by Michael Miller. Moorefield bounced back however with two runs of their own in the bottom of the frame in identical fashion on a Tyler Smith two-out triple.

Following a 1-2-3 top of the 9th for East Hardy, Moorefield got successive two-out singles from Dakota Vetter, Holden Sions (right) and Funk to win in walk-off fashion.
