When a team starts the season 25-2 a lot has to go right. The Jefferson Cougars, No. 2 in the PBR Elite Eight AAA state rankings, have gotten production from players up and down the roster hitting a combined .343 while compiling a team ERA of 1.17.
Sophomore Dylan Carroll has been one of the biggest contributors on a pitching staff that has struck out 188 hitters against just 51 walks. The 6-foot, 160-pound righty has 5-0 with a minuscule 0.42 ERA. Carroll has allowed just three runs, two earned, in 33.2 innings of work.
Even more impressive is the fact that Carroll has become more confident and effective with each start. In his last four appearances spanning 26 innings the sophomore has not allowed a run. For the season Carroll has held opponents to a .151 batting average.
