Austin Bulman singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch to lead off the bottom of the 2nd inning. Following a ground out that allowed Bullman to advance to third, Joseph Mills singled to drive Bullman in with what turned out to be the game winner.
Jefferson (26-2) added an insurance run in the 6th inning to down Washington 2-0 to sweep the home-and-home season series. Ryan French was the hard luck loser for the Patriots (17-9) giving up two runs on six hits with four strikeouts and no walks.
Jefferson starter Bradley Davis was even better. The junior lefty tossed a complete game one-hitter with one walk and three strikeouts. Davis was a model of efficiency needing just 68 pitches on the night.
Mills led the Cougars' offense with a 2-for-2 night including the game winning RBI. Charlie Barnholt and Paul Witt each doubled, with Barnholt driving in the games other run.
