In late February, over 80 players from all corners of DC and Virginia descended on RockIt Sports in Richmond, Virginia for the Freshmen Free Central, our second event of 2021. Today, we continue our breakdown of the event with the second half of the pitchers: 

 

 

 

 

 

Mason Quigley OF / RHP / Collegiate, VA / 2024 Quigley is 6-0 with an athletic frame that has a lot of projection left to it. He throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, long free arm action with normal effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery, shoulders are slightly uphill and slightly closed, lands closed with an athletic finish. Fastball was 73-75, with some sink and a bit of armside run. Curveball was 62-65 with good armspeed and sharp 11/5 break to it.

 

 

Randy Richeson C / RHP / Clover Hill, VA / 2024 Richeson is 5-7 with a strong athletic frame. He throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, shorter free arm action with high effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and closed, lands on line with a fall off finish and recoil. Fastball was 76-79, with downward plane a heavy armside run. Curveball was 72-73 with good armspeed and sharp 12/6 break to it. Slider was 73-75 good armspeed and hard downer break.

 

 

Ray Roberts C / 1B / Clover Hill, VA / 2024 Roberts is 6-1 with a lanky athletic frame that has a lot of projection left to it. He throws from a three-quarters arm slot, short loose arm action with easier effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery, shoulders are level and closed, lands slightly open with an athletic finish. Fastball was 75-78, touching 79, with a bit of late armside run. Curveball was 67-68 with good armspeed and sharp 10/4 break to it. Change-up was 67-71 good armspeed and some late fading action to it.

 

 

Hunter Santilli 3B / RHP / Colonial Heights, VA / 2024 Santilli is 5-8 with a strong athletic frame. He throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, longer free quick arm action with higher effort to his delivery. Shoulders are level and closed, lands slightly open with an athletic finish and some recoil. Fastball was 77-80, touching 81, with downward plane and a bit of late cut to it. Curveball was 69-74 with good armspeed and sharp 10/4 break to it. Change-up was 72-73 good armspeed and heavy fading action to it.

 

 

Ayden Schnarrs SS / OF / Cosby, VA / 2024 Schnarrs is 5-9 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, longer free quick arm action with normal effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery, shoulders are uphill and closed, lands slightly closed with a bit of a fall off finish and some recoil. Fastball was 76-78, with some downward plane and a hard late armside run to it. Curveball was 62-64 with good armspeed and sharp 10/4 break to it. Knuckleball was 55-56 some armspeed and heavy dive to it.

 

 

Paul Simonik RHP / OF / Thomas Edison, VA / 2024 Simonek is 5-9 with a very lanky frame that has a lot of projection left to it. He throws from a higher three-quarters arm slot, breaks long before tightening to a short free arm action with normal effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery, shoulders are uphill and closed, lands closed with an athletic finish. Fastball was 69-72, with some downward plane and a bit of late armside run to it. Curveball was 55-59 with good armspeed and big gradual 12/6 break to it.

 

 

Brooks Simpson OF / LHP / Cosby, VA / 2024 Simpson is 5-8 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a higher three-quarters arm slot, breaks long before tightening to a short quick arm action with some effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and closed, lands on line with an athletic finish. Fastball was 69-72, touching 73, with sinking action and a bit of late armside run to it. Curveball was 61-63 with good armspeed and big gradual 1/7 break to it. Change-up was 69-70 good armspeed and fade.

 

 

Ryan Sloan RHP / OF / Jefferson Forest , VA / 2024 Sloan is 6-3 with a lankier athletic frame that has a lot of projection left to it. He throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, short loose quick arm action with some effort to his delivery. Slight drop and drive delivery, shoulders are uphill and closed, lands closed with an athletic finish. Fastball was 76-80, touching 81, with downward plane to it and a bit of late armside run to it. Curveball was 69-70 with good armspeed and sharp 11/5 break to it.

 

 

Liam Stewart RHP / OF / Clover Hill, VA / 2024 Stewart is 6-0 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a three-quarters arm slot, long free arm action with some effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery, shoulders are uphill and closed, lands open with an athletic finish. Fastball was 65-73, touching 74, with some downward plane to it and a bit of hard late armside run to it. Slider was 66-69 with good armspeed and hard 11/5 downer break to it. Change-up was 63-64 with some armspeed and heavy sink.

 

 

Tucker Swails RHP / SS / Patrick County, VA / 2024 Swails is 5-10 with an athletic frame that has some strength present and plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a three-quarters arm slot, short loose quick arm action with normal effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery, shoulders are uphill and closed, lands closed with a slight fall off finish. Fastball was 77-80, with some downward plane to it and some late armside run to it. Curveball was 66-68 with good armspeed and sharp 11/5 break to it. Change-up was 75-77 with good armspeed and heavy sink.

 

 

Chase Swift LHP / OF / Thomas Dale, VA / 2024 Swift is 5-10 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, short loose quick arm action with some effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery, shoulders are uphill and closed, lands closed with a fall off finish. Fastball was 82-83, touching 84, with downward plane to it and late hard armside run to it. Curveball was 63-67 with good armspeed and late 1/7 break to it, has some shape and a chance as it tightens. Change-up was 69-72 with good armspeed and sink to it that also picked up some late armside run.

 

 

Seth Truesdale C / OF / Cosby, VA / 2024 Truesdale is 5-10 with an athletic frame that has some strength present and some projection left to it. He throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, shorter free arm action with some effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery, shoulders are level and closed, lands closed with a slight fall off finish and some recoil. Fastball was 74-77, with some late armside run to it. Curveball was 69-70 with good armspeed and gradual 11/5 break to it, pitch has a chance as it tightens.

 

 

Jack Weight RHP / 3B / Cosby, VA / 2024 Weight is 5-11 with an athletic frame that has some strength present and plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, short loose quick arm action with some effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery, shoulders are level and closed, lands open with a fall off finish. Fastball was 79-81, touching 82, with some downward plane and boring action to armside. Slider was 71-73 with good armspeed and sharp hard 10/4 break to it, pitch has some shape and a chance to develop into a swing and miss pitch. Change-up was 70-74 with good armspeed and late fade to it.

 

 

Jack Wells SS / 2B / Dinwiddie, VA / 2024 Wells is 6-0 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a three-quarters arm slot, long loose quick arm action with normal effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery, shoulders are level and closed, lands closed with a fall off finish with some recoil. Fastball was 77-79, touching 80, with some boring action to armside. Slider was 68-69 with good armspeed and gradual 10/4 break to it, pitch has some shape and a chance to tighten into a good pitch. Change-up was 72-73 with good armspeed and hard armside run to it.

 

 

Jackson Whaley 2B / RHP / Fuqua , VA / 2024 Whaley is 6-0 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, breaks long before shortening up to a free quick arm action with normal effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery, shoulders are uphill and closed, lands closed with a fall off finish with some recoil. Fastball was 78-79, with heavy armside run that gets a bit of depth as well. Slider was 70-73 with good armspeed and sharp 10/4 break to it, pitch has some shape. Change-up was 74-75 with good armspeed and hard armside run to it.

 

 

Michael Wingo Jr. SS / RHP / Varina , VA / 2024 Wingo is 5-6 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, long loose arm action with some quickness and some effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery, shoulders are level and closed, lands closed with an athletic finish. Fastball was 73-78, touching 79, with some late armside run to it. Curveball was 59-61 with some armspeed and gradual 12/6 break to it, pitch has some shape. Change-up was 68-69 with good armspeed and some late cut to it.

 

 

Jackson Wise SS / 3B / Manchester, VA / 2024 Wise is 5-11 with a lanky frame that has a lot of projection left to it. He throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, very short loose quick arm action and some effort to his delivery. Shoulders are downhill and closed, lands closed with an athletic finish. Fastball was 76-78, touching 79, with some late sink to it. Curveball was 64-65 with good armspeed and sharp 11/5 break to it.
