Top Profiles of 2020: No. 1 William Burgreen
December 31, 2020
Today we find out who had the most visited profile for the past year and it turns out to be '22 SS/2B William Burgreen (Decatur). The junior is ranked #24 in the state 2022 class and has been a part of Team Alabama at the 2019 Future Games, 2020 Future Games and the Alabama/Mississippi Border Battle. Burgreen is uncommitted.
The 5-11 175 pound switch hitting middle infielder has continued to make strides over the last year and a half, adding some definite size and strength. That added size and strength has translated well to the field as his arm strength (85 mph across the infield) and exit velocity off the bat (91.13- Trackman) have continued to increase. The metrics are obviously there as he also has run a 6.68 60 yard dash but there is more than just numbers to his game. Burgreen shows a solid offensive approach from both sides of the plate and shows some present strength in the hands. He appears to be a protptypical 2 hole type hitter. Another quality attribute of Burgreen's is his understanding of the game and overall attitude on how to play the game.

Scouting Report
5-foot-11, 160-pound athletic frame. During batting practice, Burgreen showed power in the box with an exit velocity of 89 mph. Begins in a balanced stance with a quick load, then uses a toe tap to initiate his swing. Bat speed is efficient and uses uphill swing plane. He found lots of barrels in his rounds. Line drive approach. Confident while in the infield, made throws at velocities up to 82 mph; has sure hands and consistent feet. Showed consistent accuracy to the base with a quick arm action and a high ¾ slot. Displayed speed and athleticism at the event, recording a 60 time of 6.73. Continues to impress and has added some nice strength.
Athletic, switch hitting middle infielder that appeared to be much more physical with the barrel than we have seen him in the past. Slightly open with the feet from both sides of the plate with a nice load of the hands and bat speed. Stays through contact well very and showed a gap to gap approach from both sides. Looked more natural and better rhythm in the hands from the left side. Can really defend with the glove and moves well laterally to the backhand side and glove side. Showed the ability to throw from different arm slots and throws had carry on them.
The switch hitting SS/2B continues to impress each time we see him. Nice runner that turned in a 6.92 at the event and backed that up throwing 81 mph across the infield and the exit velocity from both sides of the plate was 88 mph. Shows big time range on the infield and the glove presentation is solid. The feet work well before and after the ball is in the glove. At the plate, he shows the same set up and approach from both sides of the plate. The feet are slightly open and he shows a toe tap approach to trigger the swing. Has some tilt in the swing path and consistently bangs balls to the middle of the field. Showed carry off the bat to both gaps. Athletic ‘22 that should continue to garner attention.
Just a solid player that does everything well. Open stance that has a short, compact swing. Really stayed in the middle of the field during his BP round, showing backspin on balls that were hit up the middle/oppo. Has a nice weight distribution during his load that keeps him balanced and synced. A plus defender up the middle that made all of the plays. Arm strength was 77 mph, but will continue to rise once he gets stronger and develops. Athletic player that ran a 6.77 60 at the workout. Like his game.
Impressive switch hitting MIF that showed uber athleticism all day. Ran the fastest 60 on the day at 6.68. Was 78 mph across the diamond and 87 mph exit velo off the tee. Showed a quick turn at 2B on the double play and the glove work was one of the better ones at the event. Nice feet which allowed him to position for good hops off the bat. Showed a slightly open set up at the plate from both sides and showed juice to all fields. Had a better round as a RH hitter but can swing it from both sides. The swing showed slight tilt and he really tried to stay short with the hands.
