TPG East II: Position Player Breakdown

In late July, players from all corners of Virginia took part in our Top Prospect Games East II Showcase at Old Dominion. We begin our breakdown with the position players.

 

 

 

Ryan Barks RHP / C / Hickory , VA / 2025

Barks has a leaner athletic frame with long levers at 6-foot and 168-pounds. Shorter athletic open stance from the right side. Smooth transition back in the toe tap load, hands are set lower with minimal movement in the load. Lands slightly open and hips rotate completely with some violence. Hands are direct and work inside of the baseball with a level barrel path with plenty of extension and extra base intent. Showed ability to drive the ball to all fields with a top exit velocity of 88 mph. In the field Barks works to square up, feet get set in fielding position early, and fields the ball deeper with average hands. Average exchange and throws 72 mph across the infield with a full arm circle from a three-quarter slot. Ran a 8.48 60.

 

 

Brody Bower OF / OF / James Wood , VA / 2022

Bower has a thinner and athletic 6-foot-1, 160-pound frame. Stance starts open from the left side with a smooth load back and then lands slightly closed after a toe tap. Hands start higher while working down to the shoulders and creating some separation during the load. Slight bar in the lead arm and a level barrel path through the zone while posting a top exit velo of 87 mph with line drive tendencies. Bower also showed the ability to cover some ground in the outfield by posting a laser 7.17 60-yard time. Sits back on approach to the ball and fields it deep. Slower exchange with average hands defensively. Outfield velocity of 71 mph.

 

 

Isaac Camarena RHP / OF / Oscar Smith, VA / 2025

Camarena has a thin, compact athletic frame at 5-foot-7 and 120-pounds. Balanced athletic setup with higher set hands from the right side. Simple pickup and putdown load with minimal hand movement and maintains balance throughout the swing landing slightly open. Line drive tendencies to the swing with a level and compact barrel path, worked mostly gap to gap with a top exit velocity of 75 mph. In the outfield Camarena has active feet and fields the ball out in front with average hands working through it well. Exchanges are quick and clean at the waist. Outfield velocity of 65 mph and throws with a shorter arm action from a three-quarter slot. Ran a 8.07 60.

 

 

Jacob Chadwell 1B / RHP / Hickory, VA / 2024

Chadwell has an athletic 6-foot-2 and 168-pound frame with long levers and room to add strength. Stance starts slightly open then loads with a toe tap. Lands with a wide slightly open base and hips rotate with violence. Swings with a level barrel path and makes contact out in front with a high finish. Some extra base intent and carry behind the swing while posting a top exit velocity of 90 mph. In the infield Chadwell has active and controlled footwork working around the baseball. Average hands and a clean exchange below the chest. Throws across the infield with a full arm circle from a three-quarter slot and a top infield velocity of 72 mph. Also ran a laser timed 7.78 60-yard dash.

 

 

Christopher Frasier OF / Western Branch, VA / 2025

Frasier has a compact athletic frame at 5-foot-7 and 155-pounds. Stance starts upright and balanced then uses a small toe tap load with minimal hand movement. Hands drop slightly at landing and fire first working inside the baseball. Level barrel path with a lower finish and line drive tendencies. Exit velocity was 78 mph.  In the outfield Frasier takes a controlled and choppy approach to the ball, breaking down early and fielding the ball out in front. Hands work through the ball with a low clean exchange and throws with a longer arm circle from a high three-quarter arm slot. Outfield velocity was 59 mph. Ran a 7.90 60-yard dash.

 

 

Bradley Garner SS / OF / St. Christophers, VA / 2023

Garner projects well with an athletic 6-foot-2 and 186-pound frame that has some present strength to it and room to add more. Athletic and slightly open stance that lands on line with minimal hand movement throughout the load. After landing the head stays quiet and controlled throughout the swing. Barrel enters the zone early and is quick through it with a level path. Stays connected through extension and rotates completely. A lot of controlled line drive intent behind the swing and posted a top exit velocity of 94 mph. Garner showed plenty of athleticism in the field and a solid run tool with a laser timed 7.18 60-yard dash. In the infield the feet are fluid and active while working around the baseball. Fields the ball on the left side of his body with above average glove skills and easily works through the baseball with a clean exchange. Posted a top infield velocity of 80 mph with a short and smooth arm action from a three-quarter slot. In the outfield Garner has a smooth and controlled approach to the ball. Breaks down early and fields the ball out in front while working through the baseball.Throws with a full arm circle and topped at 84 mph from a three-quarter slot.

 

 

Benjamin Gibbs SS / RHP / Randolph Henry, VA / 2024

Gibbs has a leaner and compact athletic 5-foot-9 and 145-pound frame. Slightly open athletic and balanced setup that lands slightly open after a lower leg kick load. Hands work back slightly in the load and are set lower upon landing. Upright upper body and barrel is vertical after landing. Hands take a direct path to the ball and barrel works uphill through the zone as Gibbs sprays the ball to all fields with a top exit velocity of 85 mph. In the infield Gibbs has a controlled approach to the ball with some fluidity to it, fields the ball deeper with average hands, and quicker clean exchanges. Works through the ball and throws with a full arm circle from a three-quarter slot with a top velocity across the infield of 70 mph. Also clocked at 7.44 on a laser timed 60-yd dash.

 

 

Thomas Harbison SS / RHP / Norfolk Academy, VA / 2022

At 6-foot-2 and 165-pounds Harbison has a thinner athletic frame with long legs. Athletic open setup with a controlled leg kick and minimal load. Foot gets down early and a slight weight shift forward upon landing slightly open. Hands do a good job of staying inside the baseball. Makes contact out in front with plenty of extension through the zone. Swings with a level barrel path and a line drive gap to gap approach with a top exit velocity of 83 mph. In the outfield Harbison has a fluid and controlled approach to the ball before breaking down and fielding the ball out in front with a clean exchange. Smaller crow hop with a longer arm circle from a high three-quarter arm slot and an outfield velocity of 71 mph. In the infield he works around the baseball and has slightly above average hands. Exchanges are clean and centered in the middle of the body before throwing with a full arm circle from a three-quarter slot at 67 mph infield velocity.

 

 

Blake Hardison C / 3B / Suffolk Christian academy , VA / 2024

Hardison has a compact 5-foot-6 and 155-pound frame. Stance starts slightly open and balanced before a minimal toe tap load with a slight bat wrap.  Upon landing, the stance is even more open and the barrel takes a level and direct path to the ball. Visible contact mindset and sees the ball deep into the zone with extension through it. Hips rotate completely and uses the whole field with a top exit velocity of 79 mph. Behind the dish Hardison posted a 2.15-2.30 pop time range with a top catcher velocity of 65 mph. Exchanges were quicker and clean with average footwork and a short high three-quarter arm action. Ran an 8.38 laser timed 60-yard dash.

 

 

Luke Harlow OF / RHP / Walsingham Academy , VA / 2024

Harlow has an athletic 5-foot-11 and 169-pound frame with some strength present and room to add more. Athletic and balanced open stance, creates some rhythm preload with the hands before they work slightly back in the pick up and put down load. Lands on line and hips rotate completely with some violence. Barrel path is compact and direct with plenty of strength at contact and speed through the zone. Works slightly uphill through the zone with a high finish. Showed ability to drive the ball to all fields with carry posting a top exit velocity of 93. Harlow flashed a plus run tool and ability to cover a ton of ground in the outfield as he ran a laser timed 6.72 60-yd dash. In the outfield Harlow has active and fluid footwork upon approach to the ball. Breaks down early and fields the ball slightly deeper with above average hands and quicker, clean exchanges. Works through the ball well and throws with a fuller arm circle from a three-quarter slot and a top velocity from the outfield of 82 mph. Posted a 84 mph infield velocity.

 

 

Bailey Hill RHP / SS / Highland, VA / 2023

Hill has a thinner athletic 5-foot-9 and 140-pound frame with plenty of room to add strength. Athletic setup in the box from the right side with low set hands that work back in a low hover load. Hips rotate completely and maintains balance throughout the swing. Line drive tendencies in the swing. Fires the barrel with a slightly uphill and direct path, hands are firm through contact, and a high finish. Sprays the ball to all fields with a top exit velocity of 83 mph. Showed ability to cover some ground in the field as he ran a laser timed 7.16 60-yd dash. In the infield Hill works slightly around the ball with above average feet and gets into fielding position early. Fields the ball deep with average hands and quick clean exchanges at the waist. Works through the ball and throws with a fuller arm action from a lower three-quarter slot with a top infield velocity of 78 mph.

 

 

Jack Pokorak 1B / 3B / Forest Park, VA / 2022

Pokorak has committed to High Point since the event and has an athletic frame with present strength at 6-foot-2 and 205-pounds. Creates some rhythm with his hands and a fluid balanced toe tap load. Explosive lower half maintains balance throughout the swing and rotates completely. Barrel enters the zone quickly, works slightly uphill with present carry gap to gap and a top exit velocity of 98 mph. Plenty of strength at contact and extension through the ball with a high finish. Pokorak’s extra base intent and heavy barrel presents more power potential at the plate. In the infield Pokorak has controlled footwork and works to square the ball up. Slightly above average hands and watches the ball all the way into a clean exchange at the belt line. Throws with a full arm circle from a high three-quarter arm slot at 83 mph and also ran a laser timed 7.30 60-yard dash.

 

 

Daniel Powell C / OF / Randolph Henry , VA / 2024

Powell has a thinner athletic frame at 5-foot-9 and 135-pounds with room to add strength. Athletic and open stance from the right side that lands slightly open. Hands work back in a controlled hover load and stay inside the baseball well. Swings with line drive intent and a level barrel path with a high finish. Strength at contact and drives the ball gap to gap with a top exit velocity of 87 mph. In the outfield Powell has active and controlled footwork upon approach. Breaks down early and fields the ball out in front with clean exchanges at the belt. Throws with a full arm circle from a H3/4 slot at 78 mph. Behind the plate Powell threw a 2.11-2.28 pop time with clean exchanges and lands slightly open before throwing with a short arm action from a three-quarter slot. Top catcher velocity of 72 mph from behind the dish, also ran a laser timed 7.54 60-yard dash.

 

 

Justin Summers C / 3B / Highland, VA / 2024

Summers has a lankier athletic 6-foot and 145-pound frame. Athletic slightly open stance that lands on line. Hands work back in the smooth and controlled toe tap load. Hands take a direct path to the ball and stay inside of it well. Barrel path is level and extends all the way through the zone. Maintains balance throughout the swing and line drive intent to all fields with a top exit velocity of 80 mph. Behind the dish Summers has a quicker and clean exchange. Lands on line with second base and throws with a short and quick arm action from a high three-quarter slot with a top catcher velocity 70 mph helping Summers post a pop time of 2.09-2.24. Also ran a laser timed 7.85 60-yard dash.
