Scouting Report
7/18/17 5-foot-9, 170-pounder sat 80-82 from a high 3/4 arm slot during his three innings of work. Displayed very good command consistently pounding the lower third of the strike zone. Curveball showed 11/5 shape at 65-66 and changeup at 70-71 was an effective third offering. Allowed three hits while striking out one and induced six ground ball outs.
2/12/17 5-foot-9, 170-pounder who pitches out of a high three-quarter slot. Compact, repeatable delivery, maintains direction to the plate, and threw his entire arsenal for strikes. Fastball sat 77-78 and his change-up at 68-69 showed some one-plane fading action. Good feel for his 11/5 curveball at 62-64 and consistently located it at the bottom of the strike zone, while his slider at 70-71 has short, one-plane cut action.
2/12/17 5-foot-9, 170-pound right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and utilizes a leg-lift stride to initiate his swing. Wraps barrel in load leading to length in swing, but displayed ability to routinely find the barrel with a bat exit velocity of 78 mph. Primary pitcher ran a 7.38 60-yard dash and showcased active feet defensively with accurate 75 mph arm strength across the diamond.
10/29/16 5-foot-9, 170-pound frame. Stuff was a bit down from when we saw him two months prior. Pitched out of an over-the-top slot with a fastball that sat 77-78 (previously 80-81) and occasionally had late diving action. Also featured a change-up at 68-70 with a bit of sink and a curveball that he casts with 11/5 action at 61-63 (previously 63-67).
Right-handed hitter starts from an open stance and strides to slightly open. Wraps barrel behind head and spins on his back leg with heel retreating toward catcher, creating some length and limiting his bat speed. Barreled the baseball to the pull side during his BP round, while he recorded an 80 mph exit velocity and ran a 7.21 60-yard dash. Defensively, he showed some feel for coming to get the right hop and playing through the catch with his feet, while he also recorded 74 mph arm strength.
8/18/16 5-foot-9, 170-pound primary pitcher sat 77-79 from a high 3/4 arm slot. Also commanded a 67 mph curveball with short, 1/5 break and a changeup thrown at near fastball arm speed that sat 67-70. The right-handed hitter displayed a solid approach at the plate initiating his swing with a short, lift-and-replace stride from a square stance. Displayed the ability to consistently barrel the baseball with a bat exit velocity of 79 mph. Flashed capable defensive actions at multiple defensive positions with good carry to throws of 79 mph from the outfield.
