The Diamondskills Summer All-American Camp was held on July 16-17 2019 at St. John's College. Over 50 players from around the region performed in front of over 30 colleges and the PBR Scouting Staff.
Today we continue our player evaluations from the event and break down the middle infielders that were in attendance.
Top Performers
Grayson Bush SS/2B Monticello 2020
Bush has a solid athletic makeup at 5-foot-10, 165-pounds. Posted a solid 7.06 60 time on the day. Bush can really pick it defensively. Feet are active throughout cutting distance on plays when needed. Worked outside of the ball lining up throws pre-catch, solid glove presentation out front, and a quick clean centered exchange. Arm action is short and throws from a three-quarter arm slot at 82 mph across. Was comfortable throwing from any arm slot and was consistently accurate across. Shows some flow and rhythm in his swing that starts with a slightly wider athletic stance. Starts open and lands on line after a small leg lift and has a level path with a slightly uphill finish. Displayed a gap to gap approach with some strength in the swing. Exit velocity was 87 mph.
Matthew Turk SS/2B Dominion 2020
Compact athletic frame at 5-foot-9, 155-pounds. Turk posted a solid 6.94 60 time. Open athletic stance from the right side, strides in and lands on line, and hands were quiet through the load. Stayed inside the ball well, barrel showed ability to stay through the ball at contact, and he used a line drive approach to the middle and right side of the field. Exit velocity was 78 mph. Defensively displayed quick active feet, tended to work laterally on approach, and had solid glove presentation and catch out front. Quick clean exchange in the center and moved to a short arm action from a three-quarter arm slot at 80 mph across. Also, made multiple plays on the run and displayed ability to throw from a variety of arm slots with ease.
Jake Becker SS/2B Sherwood (MD) 2021
Solid compact frame standing 5-foot-8, 165-pounds. Left handed hitter that shows solid rhythm and timing. On line stance, small leg lift to stride landing on line, and hands are set back and show some rhythm. Hands are short and quick to the ball, slightly uphill path, and used the middle of the field well flashing some gap to gap potential. Exit velocity was 84 mph. Defensively Becker worked outside the ball on approach, above average hands, and solid glove presentation out front. Quick clean exchange to a short arm action and throws from a low three-quarter arm slot at 79 mph across.
Jeffrey Coakley SS/OF Woodrow Wilson 2021
Athletic projectable frame at 5-foot-10, 165-pounds. Ran a 6.78 60 time. Open athletic stance from the right side, small pick up and put down to stride, and lands on line. Barrel gets in the zone early and exits quick. Level path to the swing, showed some hand speed, and used the whole field in his BP rounds. Exit velocity was 83 mph. Feet were clean and active on approach, showed lateral quickness and range, and flashed soft hands to catch. Clean exchange, short arm action, and throws from a lower three-quarter arm slot at 75 mph.
Brett Seils SS/RHP Sherwood (MD) 2021
Solid athletic frame at 5-foot-10, 170-pounds. Strong athletic base at the plate, starts slightly open, and lands on line after a small leg lift to stride. Hands are loose, slight uphill tilt to the swing, and showed a solid gap to gap approach with some power potential in the swing. Exit velocity was 82 mph. Defensively Seils fielded out front with above average hands, clean early exchange, and an average arm circle. Threw out of a low three-quarter arm slot at 79 mph across the infield. 60 time was 7.44.

Michael Baturin SS/2B Camp Hill (PA) 2022Solid frame at 5-foot-8, 155-pounds. Hits from the right side with an upright stance, starts narrow and open, and strides forward landing open. Hands work away from body on load, barrel gets on plane early and exits early, and bat path is flat. Swing produced some line drives with pull side tendency. Defensively, feet were active, worked low on approach, and received out front. Clean exchange to an average arm circle throwing from a three-quarter arm slot.
Connor Klebrowski RHP/SS Loyola Blakefield (MD) 2022
Long thin projectable frame at 6-foot-2, 150-pounds with plenty of room to add strength. At the plate hits with a slightly closed stance, bigger knee to knee leg kick, and hands drop into slot on load. Short path to the ball, hits against firm front side, and head stays behind at contact. Consistent line drives and primarily to the pull side, but did show ability to go the other way when needed. Exit velocity was 75 mph. Works outside the ball on approach, soft hands, and a clean exchange. Average arm circle and throws from a lower three-quarter arm slot at 76 mph across.
Tony Gonzalez SS/2B Montgomery Blair (MA) 2021
Compact athletic frame at 5-foot-6, 127-pounds. Athletic setup from the right side that starts slightly open and finishes on line after a knee to knee leg kick. Hands load back with some flow, arm bar at separation, and swing gets in and out of the zone early. Flat bat path that showed some line drive tendency using the whole field. Exit velocity was 74 mph. Displayed lateral quickness in the infield, rhythm on approach, and soft hands to catch. Clean exchange to a short arm action and throws from a three-quarter arm slot at 68 mph across. Ran a 7.44 60.
AJ Martin SS St. John's College 2022
5-foot-10, 160-pound athletic frame with some projection to it. Square athletic stance, hands show some rhythm in the load, and makes small stride forward landing on line. Slight arm bar and hands drop slightly at separation, but has some quickness getting the barrel through. Swing has uphill tilt and looks to have some long term gap to gap potential. Gets solid usage out of the lower half and finishes it with some aggression. Exit velocity was 82 mph. Defensively, feet were active early with a prep hop and works around the ball on approach. Solid glove presentation to catch, soft hands, and a quick exchange at center. Short arm circle and throws from a three-quarter arm slot at 71 mph across. Ran a 7.34 60. Is an intriguing athletic infielder to keep an eye on going forward.
Ryan Rodriguez SS Georgetown Prep (MD) 2022
Rodriguez has an athletic frame at 5-foot-7, 145-pounds. Hits from the left side with a slight crouch in a square stance. Loads into the back leg while taking a small stride forward and lands slightly closed. Hands load back to separation, barrel gets on plane early, and a level path with an uphill finish. Barrel stayed on through contact and showed some consistency up the middle of the field with a line drive approach. Exit velocity was 74 mph. Active feet on approach, solid glove presentation, and soft hands to catch. Exchange was quick and displayed the ability to throw from multiple arm slots. Infield velocity was 66 mph. 60 time was 7.53.
Sam Shapiro SS/2B Wilson (DC) 2021
Shapiro has a compact athletic frame at 5-foot-8, 150-pounds. Hits from the right side with an athletic stance, weight shifts back to load, and small stride forward landing closed. Bat path is short to the ball and quick out of the zone. Level swing that produced line drives working gap to gap with an exit velocity of 73 mph. Under control on approach from the outfield, solid glove presentation, and works against a firm front side at release. Long arm action from a three-quarter arm slot at 65 mph. Ran his 60 in 7.68.
Adam Stitt 2B/RHP Lake Braddock 2022
Stitt has a compact frame at 5-foot-6, 136-pounds. Hits from the left side with an upright stance. Starts and finishes on line after a small pick up and put down to stride. Barrel gets on plane early, shows a level path, and used the whole field in his BP rounds. Exit velocity was 69 mph. On the mound delivery starts with a side step rocker, down and out stride landing on line, and shoulders are level throughout. Arm action is short and throws from a three-quarter arm slot. Was consistently around the zone, inducing early contact in live at bat's.
