2018 PBR FL Underclass Games Quick Hits

Saturday June 23rd at Henley Field in Lakeland, FL, the top underclass high school prospects ranging from the 2020-2022 classes participated in the 2018 Florida Underclass Games which is one of the premier scouting event for the 2018 summer season. With a talented roster on hand, players participated in a pro-style workout followed by two ten inning games.
Over the next couple of weeks, we will breakdown each position through stats, report, video, and more. Below we take a look at some quick news and notes from the event and those who performed. We will have more detailed breakdown to come next week, breaking down every player and listin who we feel were the top players in each position.

2020 RHP/INF Zach DeVito continues to trend upward. Athletic infielder with some present hit tool. Made some big jumps on the mound and pounded the bottom of the zone with a two-seam at 83-85 and four seam at 85-88 mph, striking out the side.

2020 RHP/OF Wesley Luttfring had consistent hard contact and translated to the game with a double to left-center. Quick arm, 78-80 on the mound.

2022 OF/LHP Landon Moran was all around impressive. Advanced approach with leverage from the left side. Consistent hard contact against quality arms, older than him. Had a single and multiple hard hit balls. Clean, projectable arm on the mound, 78-81 mph.

2021 C Dylan King has a big, strong, projectable frame and left-handed hitter had a pair of singles in the game.

2020 MIF Blake Wright showed all around tools that will play at the next level. Solid defender with chance to above average hit and power.

2020 3B Blake D’Arville had a pair of singles in the game.

2020 3B/RHP Peter Petracco showed strength in the lower half and translated offensively and on the mound, where he was 82-85 with a strikeout.

2021 C Jaime Ferrer has stocky frame with strength throughout. The catcher had pop times in the 1.94-2.15 range and a double in the game.

2021 MIF Dorian Gonzalez showed extremely advanced offensive ability. Simple, strong and compact, translated to a hard hit single in the game.

2020 MIF Malik Young has really grown and filled out. Athletic actions in the middle, making multiple plays at short.

2020 C Sawyer Feller has a big, strong frame and advanced catching ability. Drove a ball over the left field wall for a no-doubter solo home run during game play. Pop times ranged from 1.96-2.1.

2020 3B Brenden Vern showed above average bat speed and loose hands.

2020 MIF Dylan Mock showed all around athleticism and present bat speed.

2020 OF Corbin Grantham is a well above average to plus athlete potential, running a 6.63. Tripled into the right-center field gap during gameplay. Compact swing with offensive upside.

2021 RHP Jack Cebert cruised through his two innings of work during game play. The projectable righty’s fastball sat 81-83 mph with run along with a 72-73 mph changeup that showed some sink and a 70-71 mph curveball. Induced multiple swings and misses with his breaking ball.

2021 LHP Carsten Finnvold showed command of the zone and threw a high percentage of strikes. Fastball was mostly 76-78 mph while working in a 67-68 mph changeup with some sink, 63-64 mph curveball.

2021 RHP/3B Bryce Braxton stood out all over as the strong bodied two-way worked a quick 1-2-3 inning sitting mostly 81-83 mph with his fastball that showed cut. Then followed it up the next inning with a two-run home run over the left-center field wall.

2020 LHP Luke Baker was a standout from the Florida Limited Series and continued to impress in his two innings on the mound. The tall, projectable lefty sat 84-86 mph with his fastball, touching 87 along with 70-71 mph curveball with shape.

2020 OF/3B Stan DeMartinis stood out all over the field where he showed above average actions at multiple positions along with a strong performance at at the plate. Had a diving catch playing center field during game play.

2020 IF Blake DeLamielleure shows athletic actions in the field with an accurate arm across the diamond. Offensively, he shows barrel control at the plate with the ability to drive the ball into the gaps. Jacksonville recruit.
