Left-handed pitchers

Magdiel Cotto, LHP, Bethel Park HS (PA), Class of 2020
6-foot-3, 225-pound South Carolina commit. The lefty sat 87-90 out of an effortless delivery with a very clean arm action. Currently the fastball is flat, but Cotto's high 3/4 arm slot will allow him to manipulate the baseball in the future to add some movement. Currently throws a curveball and slider that have similar shape with both pitches sitting in the upper 70s. Eventually the two pitches will likely meld into one or the other with the potential to throw a cutter off of his fastball. Cotto's changeup was an above average offering sitting 79-81 with sink and arm-side run. Look for additional velocity from Cotto as he grows into his projectable frame and adds functional strength.

Tony DeLawrence, LHP, Perkiomen Valley HS (PA), Class of 2020
6-foot, 190-pound uncommitted lefty was a standout for Team Pennsylvania at the 2018 PBR Future Games in August. DeLawrence sat 83-85 out of a high 3/4 arm slot on this day, down several ticks from the summer. His hip coil action and at times heavy arm-side run make him a difficult at bat for both right-handed and left-handed hitters. Curveball sat 68-71 with 1/7 shape while changeup was thrown with good sell at 77-79.

David Shoemaker, LHP, State College Area HS (PA), Class of 2019
6-foot-1, 200-pound Pennsylvania commit. The lefty sat 86-88 from a 3/4 arm slot with some arm-side run to his fastball. Two-seam action at 84-86 showed similar run with some sink. Slider at 77-79 showed tight rotation. Also showcased a splitter at 78-79 as his third pitch. Simple, efficient, repeatable delivery. Pounded zone with a feel for all of his pitches.

Grant Umberger, LHP, Downingtown East HS (PA), Class of 2020
6-foot-4, 215-pound Virginia Tech commit. Lefty sat 81-85 out of a high 3/4 arm slot with a low effort, repeatable delivery. Fastball is relatively flat, but is commanded well. Curveball shows some depth at 70-72 with 1/7 rotation. Changeup is an above average pitch at 71-72. The change is thrown at fastball arm speed with arm-side run and sink. A clean arm stroke and a physical frame should lead to additional velocity spikes over the next 18 months.
