Team Ohio Future Games Spotlight: Collin Romel, LHP/1B
July 27, 2015
By Dylan Hefflinger
Ohio Editor in Chief/NW Scout
On July 30th through August 1st, PBR Ohio will take a select team of players in the Classes of 2017 and 2018 to represent Ohio at the PBR Future Games in Indianapolis at Grand Park.
Players receive exposure unlike any other event for underclassmen. Last year, 100+ colleges from all over the country were in attendance, including coaches from every Division I power conference in the country. Only players who have a legitimate shot at being a Division I recruit and who have an interest in the possibility of making a verbal commitment during their sophomore or junior seasons have been considered.

Team Ohio Future Games Spotlight: Collin Romel, LHP/1B
Name: Collin Romel
Position: LHP/1B
Class: 2017
Height/Weight: 6-foot, 190 pounds
High School: Olmsted Falls
Summer Team(s): 18u Lake Erie Warhawks
Past Showcase/In-Game Performances:
Date: 6/8/15
Scouting Report: 6-foot, 190-pound athletic body frame. On the mound he throws using regular effort, but not a whole lot. He has a straight up and down leg kick, while using simple, repeatable mechanics. He lands in a straight line, even at foot strike, with his foot turned more closed. He finishes with his momentum carrying towards home plate. He throws with a clean arm action, using quicker arm speed, from a ¾ slot. Uses a three-pitch mix. His fastball was between 84-86 mph with life. He threw his curveball at 70-71 mph at a 1/7 plane, needs to stay on top of the pitch. Has a good feel for a changeup that he threw using fastball arm speed at 71-73 mph.
Date: 11/2/14
Scouting Report: 6-foot, 187-pound athletic build. On the mound the southpaw showed the ability to throw three pitches for consistent strikes and feel. He has a simple, repeatable delivery with an easy arm and a fastball that sits 80-82. Breaking ball has good speed and solid 1/7 break at 69-72 mph. His changeup with good arm action sits 72-73 mph with sink.
Thoughts on being selected to play in PBR's Future Games and representing the great state of Ohio: "I am absolutely thrilled to be playing for Team Ohio in the Futures games! It was a goal of mine to make the team from the beginning of the year."
How has PBR helped as far as recruiting and exposure: "I have received a lot of exposure both from the Showcases themselves and also the Social Media aspect of PBR. Many coaches have said they saw me at some type of PBR related event."
Athletic awards or academic accolades that you have received (All-State teams, Preseason all-state teams, league honors, honor roll, etc): 2015 1st Team All-Conference in High School, 2014 & 2015 Underclassmen of the Year award at Olmsted Falls, 2015 18U Diamond League All-Star.
