Team Ohio Future Games Spotlight: Bryce Borton, OF
July 22, 2015
By Dylan Hefflinger
Ohio Editor in Chief/NW Scout
On July 30th through August 1st, PBR Ohio will take a select team of players in the Classes of 2017 and 2018 to represent Ohio at the PBR Future Games in Indianapolis at Grand Park.
Players receive exposure unlike any other event for underclassmen. Last year, 100+ colleges from all over the country were in attendance, including coaches from every Division I power conference in the country. Only players who have a legitimate shot at being a Division I recruit and who have an interest in the possibility of making a verbal commitment during their sophomore or junior seasons have been considered.

Team Ohio Future Games Spotlight: Bryce Borton, OF
Name: Bryce Borton
Position: OF
Class: 2017
Height/Weight: 6-foot, 155 pounds
High School: Defiance
Summer Team(s): Locos Express and Defiance Acme
Past Showcase/In-Game Performances:
Date: 4/4/15
Scouting Report: 6-foot, 155-pound athletic build. The right-handed hitter starts with a slightly opened stance and uses a toe tap. Short, simple swing with a a level path towards the ball, and the ball tends to jump off his bat. Registered a top exit velocity of 80 mph at a recent event, but looked like it has already improved in the few at bats I saw. It also will improve with added strength. In-game, ran a 4.20 down the line. On the day, hitting out of the eight hole, the athletic outfielder went 1-1 with a two-run double. Also walked and was hit by a pitch. In the at bat he walked in, roped a one-hopper off the left field fence that just went foul. Talented, athletic outfielder is one to watch over the next couple of years.
Date: 1/18/15
Scouting Report: 5-foot-11, 150-pound athletic build. From the outfield he has quick transfer and opens up on his throws. Throws from a high-¾ slot with 82 mph arm strength. Right-handed hitter that starts open and uses a toe tap. Simple swing and ball tends to jump off his bat. Registered a top exit velocity of 76 mph but should get better with added strength. Also ran 4.43 home-to-first which was the fastest from a RHH.

How has PBR helped as far as recruiting and exposure: "Since the TPG I have received invitations to prospect camps. I would like to thank PBR for providing a platform for high school baseball players who have dreams of playing at the next level."
Athletic awards or academic accolades that you have received: "I started for the 2015 Division II State Champions and am an honor roll student."
2015 Statistics: Spring: 27-73, .318 Avg, 6 2B, 2 HR, 23 R, 16 RBIs, 10 SB
What other sports do you play: "Growing up I also played football and basketball, but am not 100% focused on becoming the best baseball player I can."
GPA/ACT/SAT: 3.6 GPA.
Fun Fact (Anything unique about yourself): "I enjoy taking some time off and bowhunting in the fall."
