FORT MYERS—The Williston Red Devils won their second consecutive 1A state championship 3-0 over Blountstown. Williston only gave up one run all postseason and was led by 2016 LHP and Florida commit Austin Langworthy who threw a complete game shutout. Offensively, the Red Devils were led by 2015 OF Cameron Coffey who went 2-3 with an RBI.
The first three innings of this contest flew by as Williston did not have a batter reach base and Blountstown only had two hits. After the top of the fourth, however, Williston broke the ice by scoring two runs—one that came off a double by 2015 C Haydn Cano.
Two runs would have been plenty for Langworthy but Williston added another run in the fifth off a single by Coffey. Langworthy then cruised through the sixth and seventh to lead the Red Devils to their 3-0 state championship.
