FORT MYERS—In the second 1A state semifinal matchup, the Williston Red Devils battled the Hamilton County Trojans to see who would be facing Blountstown for the championship. In what was a very tight, low scoring game, Williston was able to come away with the 1-0 victory and get a shot at their second straight state championship. 2016 OF/LHP Austin Langworthy paced the offense for both teams by going 1-3 with an RBI. Both pitchers had excellent outings as 2015 LHP/1B Kaleb Sadler threw six innings and gave up one run and 2015 RHP/IF Tyler Moore threw seven shutout innings and only gave up three hits.
The lone run of the game came in the bottom of the fifth inning when Langworthy drove a line drive down the left line that landed just inside the foul line and bounced into the stands for a ground rule double. Fortunately for Williston, that was the only run they needed as Moore dominated the entire game on the mound. The Red Devils will face Blountstown tonight at 7:30 for the 1A state championship.
